dumbass fucking question

quality and price must balance

example: shop only carries modus bolts, mini logo bolts, and ace bolts

both ace and modus bolts look the same quality, feel good, probably work well. But you know mini logo is shit bolts because you just know

turns out mini logo is cheapest, then modus, then ace is most expensive because their bullshit light hardware is 1g lighter (fuck sake)

YOU WILL PICK MODUS

WHY AKS THIS QUESTION WHEN ITS SUCH A ACQUIRED FINANCIAL INSTINCT IN SKATING

HARDWARES COME AND GO

homie getting worked up with thread he spelt ask incorrectly

So funny story - I went to Zumiez one day to pick and axle bolt (it was next to my work). I go back to the “skate” section and tell the guy what I needed. He grabs me the whole bag of hundreds of axle nuts. He rings me up for .10 and handed me the whole bag of nuts. After I told him that it was the price for a single nut, he insisted that the price was for the whole bag, so I just took them. So now I have like 300 axle nuts that I got for .10

I guess it’s good that most idiots work there

Need hardware where the bolts are threaded all the way up.  Freaks me out when they have that smooth section towards the top.  Can’t do it.

When it's threaded all the way there is smaller contact between the side of the bolt and the wood.  The threads dig in and bugger out the holes in the deck.   I can't do threaded all the way.

also less contact with the truck and more likely to stretch out the baseplates over time.

I pay the couple extra bucks for Bronze.  I basically treat it like a tip jar for their edits.

But it seems kinda criminal they don’t give you a little sticker……

Worth it for those sweet threads

I use to buy mini logo hardware until I started breaking them while tightening. They’re like 2$.

I would say that I’d pay to 6 for a small brand or:2.50 for like whatever cheap plain black bolts I can find.

Like I’m not paying 5$ for diamond koston bolts or something, but I’d do up to 6$ for something like bender or whatever person wants to try a hardware brand.

Whatever the cheapest/under $4, black, 7/8" allen hardware there is.

Preferably Chocolate hardware since they stay black, and are usually under $3

Anything from $2-4.50. No more, if I can help it. Phillips only, never Allen

Bolts with the smooth section are made that way because it’s stronger. The threads can work as little “score” marks for snapping.

Last set was like 8 euros, never spent that much but they were the only set with silver nuts. I hate having silver trucks with black nuts 🤷🏻‍♂️

It doesn’t seem like this thread exist but lmk.

What’s the most you would pay for hardware? Anything more than five dollars is unreasonable. Besides Phillips and Allen, sizes, brands don’t make any difference.

In canada we use fuckin Monopoly money so $10 is the standard. any more and it’s not worth it, any less and it’s usually that sketchy Mexican Allen hardware u end up getting, but I’m fine blowing a tenner on some junt or shorties cuz they come with Allen keys

Depends on if I find anyone still selling randoms

I came across a whole mixed box of them the other day, completely random find (no pun intended) with some 7/8" which always seemed too short for anything, some normal 1" with a few options, then some 1.25" as well, which I don't recall seeing before.

Price on them was AU $19.99 (which would have been US $10 or so anyway) but they had everything on clearance so came down to $6 or so a set.  I bought some of them, more as a nostalgia thing, but they were still available in some places and through some distributors from what others were saying too.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.
