Your budget for shoes
« on: December 18, 2022, 11:14:44 AM »
With inflation increasing prices, I've been trying to conserve money a lot more than usual. Shoes and boards are the 2 things that I buy frequently out of other gears.

70 dollars is probably the max I would spend on shoes.

What's your budget for shoes?

Max budget
Vulc =$60aus(altho right now I have plenty so maybe more like $25)
Tech cupsole= maybe $150 but I'd have to try it on first. It's a weird amount because after $100 I can probably find plenty of runners and basketball shoes which even tho I can't skate are probably still better value for money

Skateboarding is the one thing that I don’t put restrictions on spending-wise probably to my detriment. I try to spend my money locally at one of two shops; Kingswell and Marriage. That works for most hardgoods. I don’t mind paying $70 for a board if it goes to the bigger picture of helping the local scene. Neither carry NB#/Adidas cupsoles though, so I’ll check out Brooklyn Projects for shoes. More often than not they’ll be out of stock for what I’m looking for I’ll order from the Premier Store in Michigan(I live in LA). I’ve spent as little as $30 for shoes and as much as $160 after tax for shoes this year

There are always so many closeout shoes, so many legit skate shoes at Nordstrom Rack, so many basically new shoes for sale on Depop or eBay, that I cannot imagine paying full price. I doubt I've paid more than $50 or $60 in a decade.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

I stick to finding discounted(usually ugly) color ways of shoes I like. Also, being a size 13 can be a blessing (nobody buys the sasquatch sizes) or a curse (local shop barely carries any size 13 shoes because they just sit).

Usually around $80. $100 is rare and very much pushing it.

Are they on sale? If so how much off.

Paying full price for something you destroy is silly

I averaged around $75 a pair and I go through about four pair per yr. So $300 max in a year.
Going to start taking the trip to the shop about an hour away bc it seems like a cool shop and they are the only one around with shoes to try (on) before you buy.

If they’re vegan/ good quality, no real budget tbh… I’ve spent $400 + on boots, for skate shoes probably around $150, maybe more? I’m not hard on shoes, I’d drop $200 for some vegan 1010!

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

What shoes are you getting for RM100?

$40 or less, eS sales with the 20% discount code has ruined my perception of skate shoe prices. Same with recent fire sales on deck, $30 is the upper limit.

I used to only buy shoes on clearance until I got my first pair of half cabs a few years ago. I’ve only skated half cabs since, so $70 is my max. I want to try the Vans Ave, but can’t justify spending $100+ with the way I destroy shoes.

$80 for adidas busenitz but i feel it's money well spent because i can get like 6 months out of them if i'm conservative.

'Sale'

Unless the colorway is fire.

Definitely driven down the sale-only route for a long time, but if the skater/model speaks to me I sometimes buy new/full price.

If I had to put a number to it - $65-70 at most.

Pretty much 0 as I probably have enough shoes to last me for the rest of my life and I’m trying to stop buying stuff I don’t need. If something comes across that I absolutely and definitely want I can pay up to 120€, for skate shoes that is. I’ve bought most of my shoes on sale so normal for me has been 30 to 70€ for a pair.

around 40 to 50 € max, but usually around 20to 30€ because i buy them second hand in good/ almost mint condition at ebay ot vinted. so many people sell new shoes  they just tried on but didnt fit for cheap money.
