The most you will pay for hardwares
« on: December 24, 2022, 11:16:28 AM »
It doesn’t seem like this thread exist but lmk.

What’s the most you would pay for hardware? Anything more than five dollars is unreasonable. Besides Phillips and Allen, sizes, brands don’t make any difference.

Prob like $10aus if I absolutely needed it but I know I've got at least six full sets in a toolbox so most likely $5.

Years ago I got a few sets of those theeve titanium bolts and but gave them away. Later on thought oh I should of actually tried them but discovered at the shop they were like $30aus. Can't believe people would spend that much for bolts how good could they possibly be? I've skated for 20+ years and broken maybe three ever

Independent Trucks brand hardware is always like $2.50 and I cannot imagine that there’s a higher quality product for less money than that.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

dumbass fucking question

quality and price must balance

example: shop only carries modus bolts, mini logo bolts, and ace bolts

both ace and modus bolts look the same quality, feel good, probably work well. But you know mini logo is shit bolts because you just know

turns out mini logo is cheapest, then modus, then ace is most expensive because their bullshit light hardware is 1g lighter (fuck sake)

YOU WILL PICK MODUS

WHY AKS THIS QUESTION WHEN ITS SUCH A ACQUIRED FINANCIAL INSTINCT IN SKATING

HARDWARES COME AND GO

It’s, like, a place where people discuss all things hardware, but by all means, DO keep this redundant thread chugging along.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?

The only hardware that matters is Shorty’s hardware of your choice in Phillips or Allen to any length and it never costs more than like $5.

For some reason Bronze hardware is often difficult to find in stock, so I always buy extra.

Cost doesn’t really matter, it’s such a minimal difference with hardware.

Copped some axle nuts at my local lately, took 8 and didn‘t ask for the price. I was surprised they charged me CHF 2.00 (yep that‘s roughly 2 bucks/Euros) per nut. I know this is Switzerland but come on. Luckily I had a gift card.
why come?

That’s crazy. I went to my now local shop once to get axle nuts as I had had some mishaps with Ace nuts. They asked how many, I figured I'd take 8 to be safe. I asked how much. They told me it's free even though they didn't know me or anything and I think I was wearing my corpo clothes not looking like a skater. I was so happy, I ended up buying Polar 93s from them cuz I wanted to support such good vibes. So I spent 129€ there due to their generosity. Good purchase, nice jeans, two sets of nuts and good vibes.

I bought about 5000 7/8" Allen bolts for like $4 on a grainger closeout deal. They're the black ones that don't rust and work great. I will never buy skate specific hardware again and if you have the madness it's worth buying in bulk.

16 Euro on hardware is insane, does Aliexpress deliver to your country? I buy axle / kingpin nuts and speed rings in bulk (100 each) for a few bucks, you can make a decent side hustle selling them at 1 Euro!

Hospital charged my insurance $36,000 for the plate and seven screws on my collarbone but my cost was $200 so I guess that.

So funny story - I went to Zumiez one day to pick and axle bolt (it was next to my work). I go back to the “skate” section and tell the guy what I needed. He grabs me the whole bag of hundreds of axle nuts. He rings me up for .10 and handed me the whole bag of nuts. After I told him that it was the price for a single nut, he insisted that the price was for the whole bag, so I just took them. So now I have like 300 axle nuts that I got for .10

Sounds like it may be time to go into business with @pizzafliptofakie and sell those things as Deez Nuts and the packaging could feature the beloved SawCon exchange.

Truth. Shortys is cool as fuck and from a hardware standpoint can’t go wrong with the OG or Silverado’s.

Like grip, anything that isn’t black is wack. I don’t care what hardware company you support.

I pay the couple extra bucks for Bronze.  I basically treat it like a tip jar for their edits.

Need hardware where the bolts are threaded all the way up.  Freaks me out when they have that smooth section towards the top.  Can’t do it.
