Well ask Gorecki who's inspired him? Stevie owns that shit. His
skating is undeniable. Well at least we agree on one thing, it sure
aint Ricky's.

Let me make this clear, I'm in no way trying to say I don't think Ricky
is good or anything. I just think he's decent and it's tight to see him
still cruising around. I'm just saying that I'm not gonna be on the edge
of my seat from watching him skate.

In the slap world Sherm sucks and RIcky is king. Hillarious.

and noone fucking owns a town, but oyola represents the side of philly that
first got recognition. therefore he s a legend nowadays- to those who know.

Yeah I'm bitter cause I think Stevie put it down for Philly harder than Oyola.
Fucking stupid.

YOUR LEGEND REFERED TO A BLACK PERSON AS A NIGGER. THAT'S WHY HE GOT DROPPED.

Yea, Stevie did alot in his time, but he ditched the city as soon as Love got shut down, maybe even sooner.  Ricky put Philly on the map and never left.  The city is still his.

Still holding that against him? That was what, 12 years ago? The story I heard from him and other guys that went on that trip was he was trying a trick, got frustrated and yelled, "Nigger!" at noone in particular. In bad taste, yes. You know you EMB locs would get of hand sometimes. Sure that wasn't one of them? I'm not saying that this story is absolute truth, I wasn't there. Just what I heard. BTW,I don't have heroes, just inspirations. OYOLA happens to be a Puerto Rican name and I know he's not a racist.

1) Style - He's got a great, unique style. He has lots of power, but some finesse thrown in there.
2) Choice of spots - This is definitely the first thing that caught my eye about him. Most of the spots he skates are spots that you would find while skating down a city street; not many big name spots.  Half the stuff he skates would be considered unskateable by almost everyone else.
3) Lack of coverage - It's a blessing in disguise. Ricky's lack of coverage makes you appreciate the coverage he does have so much more.
4) Music - Ricky always skates to good and fitting music.

so you don't actually like him for his skating?

that would make sense because it's not that good.

I don't think he's rascist either. He just made a mistake and as a result Tae wasn't having it. I personally wished that didn't
happen and he was welcomed to skate there. He's always been cool to me. I'm just saying, I think Stevie had a way bigger
influence, that's all. I hope the best for him and think it's dope how he stayed in his home town and didn't care for the
spotlight, but I aint gon lie.

I feel ya, Sanch. And for the record, your skating has been inspirational, as well.

I will always remember when Ricky, Matt and Serge played SKATE with us (at the time) youngbucks. They were all so good. And so cool to the kids.

Otis, do you base your opinions off of the opposite of what we say?
And Sanch, I respect your opinion, but as for Stevie holding down Philly instead of Ricky... Stevies newest part was ALL Barcelona; Ricky hasn't left Philly (except for the time during Seven Year Glitch)

style yeah, choosing a new/unusual spot doesn't make you a good skater it makes you a good spot chooser/observant driver.

I gotta hand it to him that he's still skating, no lie. Either way, I'm stoked that he's still skating.
He doesn't look all wrinkled up either. He still looks young and alive.

his stuff in the Sheckler cover TSM was pretty damn good, the wallie/grind into the big bank was sick, same with the curbsut ollie into the bank was nutty. i just wish he would toss one of his switch 360 flips in there once in a while, he always had a good one.

I just dont understand the hate...people who have a problem with ricky's skating (and his skating alone) should just leave...slap is the place to appreciate the ones who deserve it...don't understand the hate

why not, he probably did the same tricks-hehehehe

Kidding, Ricky is good. I respect a guy who does it his
way and is not moved to change to be more popular.
He's just doing  his thang. Props.

One of my all time favorites no question.

Been lucky enough to have befriended him and skated with him for years now.

While others have come and gone he has been puttin it down with speed and style all along.

About time he gets what he deserves, anyone thats skated with him over the years knows.

Start postin some classic pics on here if anyone has any. That Julien thread was dope with the photos.
