Cariuma, a Singapore-headquartered direct-to-consumer sneaker brand, has raised about $16.5 million in a funding round backed by venture capital firm East Ventures, regulatory filings show.

Quote
Cariuma's holding company, Tempo Livre, reported net revenue of $23.6 million for the 2022 financial year, up from $13.1 million in 2021. But it also recorded a loss of $22.9 million, higher than last year's $15.3 million.

Man, cariuma has some deep pockets if they’re stealing Nike dudes. Really wonder who’s actually funding them.

Ahaha I doubt they stole him. Dude got let go from Nike and then took whatever deal he could get that pays is a more likely scenario. Don't think there was a Luan Oliveira bidding war.

Don’t really see him getting let go. Maybe they weren’t going to give him the money he wanted and he walked.        Hes a top tier pro who, I’m assuming, has a huge fan base in Brazil. They keep way less deserving guys on the roster.

Nahh...it was a boot. Nike has battling to decrease his paycheck for years and his agent arguing to keep it up. In Brazil now every kid want be Tiago. Luan is not relevant for years for them.

You think Luan is top tier? In what way? He doesn't put out parts and he doesn't win contests. Not even close to top in any lane of skating. He is very good, but so are all the other mid pros.

I think he is. Household name and has been a standout for decades. Maybe not as active these days but left his footprint on the industry. I’ll give you not top tier but definitely not B squad.

Looks like he’s jogging on the treadmill wearing Asics on his story. I know Luan isn’t a big fan favorite here but he’s no scrub. He’s got a big fan base in the US and Brazil, probably world wide. The only thing he’s lacking is street footy and parts. But all his Berrics and SLS stuff he’s always going fast, excellent pop, proper flick and catch. With all that being said I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on Cariuma. Would rather see him on Asics or even Sole Tech maybe éS or Etnies. I enjoy his skating so hopefully he does drop some street footy this year.

Luan is a virtual top tier skater but an actual c-tier skater.

What I mean by this is that he obviously has the talent and unique style to be able to create something that stands out in every best way, if he wanted to. But it seems like he doesn't want to do the work.

Honestly I shouldn't care, but every time he skates that box in Brazilian-game-of-skate-on-a-ledge, I get this feeling that he could produce something truly unique and impressive, but we are just never allowed to see it. I'm not saying he owes us this, but I'm close to quoting Spider-Man on the subject of responsibility.

around 8 years ago Luan was probably my favorite skater, he was really good, but he stagnated a bit and lost relevance, I still like him but he is not the best ( or at least one of them ) like he was around that time.

That being said Luan on Cariuma makes a lot of sense these days and I wish him the best.

I asked them and got a non answer but I still want proof they’re planting trees. That 21 million dollar loss says maybe but like where is this forest y’all should have by now? Or do they skirt that by just giving shoes away to anyone with a skateboard picture and 10k followers  on instagram?
