Real bummed about this. Those first few records are an absolutely pivotal part of my musical upbringing. Actually got to meet him after a show in 2010 and he was a delight. RIP.

Seriously so tragic, seems like I just heard he was sick like a week ago and how he's gone

Gonna work my way chronologically through their discography this week, they were hugely influential for me in my late teens/early 20s

Extra disappointed that I missed their recent local stop of the LCW tour

I first heard this band because of Art Bars, and that was the only reason I was listening to Modest Mouse when I was that age and basically only into metal or rap. I love The Lonesome Crowded West all through We Were Dead stuff but never liked anything new they came out with after that. Saw them live in 2018 finally and their setlist left a whole lot to be desired, really heavy on new material and obscure b sides, but they fucking did do "A Different City" and it was awesome.

I caught the show and he wasn’t there. Pretty sure Isaac Brock was the only og band member
