Maybe the return of the 7.5 / 7.75 era ?  ;D

Surely a dream .. do you think it will come back one day ?
No.  Not unless everyone suddenly decides they are done skating anything big sketchy rough or basically anything but garage flat or manny pads.  If anything boards are getting bigger.

There's a dude I see at the park who moved here from Brazil, and he rides a 7.75". He says that almost everyone in Brazil rides 8" or under decks, so I think it just depends on where you are.

I started riding an ~8" last year and I've definitely noticed that there are far more 7.75"-8" decks on closeout than there are other sizes, so if it's a trend, it doesn't seem to yet be catching on in the US.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

7.5's are not "coming back" in any meaningful way

I do think it would make sense to make sub 8in sizes with shorter wheelbases more readily available for kids/smaller skaters though.

I remember getting my first 8 and it felt huge as a kid.

I feel like lots of younger people and smaller people look like their boards are too big for them

I think under 8 is still #1 in Japan too altho not as dominant as it used to be

Freestyle is still a big thing in Japan too isn't it?  Enjoy pogoing and standing still.  Also is Japan known for its crust/bigger spots or more like smooth ground perfect ledges etc?
I think def more on the crusty super hard spots side than smooth. Japan is much more into style and tradition tho which is why stuff like the accells, gravis, ipaths never really went away over there. I think maybe a skinny board can maneuver thru awkward spots a bit better maybe

That video was rad but my takeaway from that was definitely not hard to skate crust, there were some dreamy looking spots in there.

Have some more

More about awkwardness than crustiness but those accounts have plenty of vids you can find crust in if you got the time

I predict that the wheel will get a little smaller. 53mm conical/radial fulls will be the new wave. No more 60's for the kids.

I’d at least have the decency to wear something with a nice crook groove.

Alex olson becoming a dad will be life changing and revelatory for him and light a fire on his ass like never before once his bb is born. Ao is going to put out his magnum opus part we’ve all waited for or at least put out a bunch of footage because he’s got a family to feed and a purpose. He will actually try and make 917 relevant again and succeed

Either that or slip into darkness like he has in the last couple years and completely bail 917 again, and exit from the industry as a whole and do bianca and odd jobs for a living and be a full time family man. Which is also rad.

I just want everyone to know that I'm only 32.8% skateboarder, and that's on a good day. The rest is just soy and cum.

Jokes aside and sans the whole hug thing, being able to see the trick done at the spot like you were there, from any angle would be a pretty awesome supplement to normal video clips.
