I tried so so hard to support Sole Tech. I just can't do it anymore.

They are "core" in image but not in practice. And their shoes are garbage. Not as bad as Lakai, but a big step below Adidas.

I personally don't like their team or I should say they just don't do anything for me other than Spanky. While I grew up on their videos I think some people might find the continued design of their ads and editing to be stale since it's mostly consistent.

Shit on them? No, but I really don't go out of my way to watch that footage. I dislike Provost, don't care about Baekel, don't care about Winkowski, and I'm mostly indifferent on Romero and Servold. It's not a bad team at all, just not something I go out of my way to follow.

As for their shoes they have a lot of the same similar vulc designs, some heinous collab shoes and color ways, and their prices are steep for what they are. I had 2 friends buy the KSL and the stitching pulled at the lace holes quickly and while cushy, they found that the shoe felt like a dated design. Maybe others feel that the brand is just recycling instead of pushing itself? But others also like the shoes and aesthetic so it's not fair of me to say the company is this, that, or the other thing.

Thanks. I'm a bit out of the loop on stuff, since I haven't followed the scene for the last 3-4 years. I was just baffled by the amount of negative comments towards what i considered a pretty universally loved brand

I had a few pairs of their slip ons and I like them fine. But I don’t like Don Brown cause he’s posting like blue lives matter, don’t be mean to Taylor Silverman.

Plus their videos are always the same and their riders are too similar.

I love skating emericas and you can get them for cheap, I skate the omen lows for $30 delivered if you use a first purchase code.  Sometimes just a flat floppy shoe can be good for skating. They did feel a little heavy though so I weighed them to compare against my vans AVE pros and the emericas are over 100 grams heavier per shoe.

I am going to put my Emerica nostalgia aside from "This is Skateboarding" to "Stay Gold".....the reason people shit on Emerica is because the quality of the shoes stink , a mismatch between their professed ethics and actual business practises and lastly their team selection , it has a similarity to the Irish agricultural policy during the potato famine ....monoculture as fuck. I love Spanky, Figgy, Leo and Dixon. Three out of those four dudes imo are bonafided legends to myself. Having said that it's been so weird seeing Emerica pass consistently on some gnarly rippers who don't fit the outdated "look" they are going for. It is 2023 Emerica TM not everybody on the team has to look like a member of Belle and Sebastien or The War On Drugs.
