I’m an old man/weekend warrior, so my boards don’t get a lot of action. I had a board that I love and was finally getting some battle scars. (9.0” slave board, Indy’s and some 53 spitfires). Fine tuned set up that got me stoked every time I looked at it.

It got yanked out of my truck sometime last week and now I’m doomed to get a Christmas complete. That mixed with my age and lack of skill will have kook written all over me. I have some bits and pieces around the garage but gave most of the good stuff to my buddies or their kids.

Thats all, just wanted someone to tell me it’ll be ok.

The good news is that you get to build a complete from the ground up! Just get out there early for a few sessions to break it in and you'll be all set.

Sorry for stealing your board. I'm a bad person. It's a weird mental space to be in - clearly knowing that I'm the baddie, and at the same time, a grown adult who should know right from wrong.

I guess it's like what Al Pacino's rendition of Scarface said: You need people like me. You know, bad people who do bad things. Imagine if everyone was good. That would suck.

Rest assured though, I'm thoroughly enjoying this "skate-board." I bring it into hospitals, sit on it, and ride down the halls while flipping patients off. What can I say, I'm having fun and I'm a terrible human being.

I’ve never once judged anybody for having an all new complete.  Buying new shit is fun though, let gear madness consume your mind

Nobody cares about what your setup looks like.
And if it bothers you, there are some options. You could buy a blank or just sand a bit of the new graphic off. Put the wheels on with the graphic on the inside. And for the trucks there's slappies or ride on grinds.

While I understand the concern of looking like a kook, all I can say is that 1) no one will notice anything about your board unless it rolls into them or something and 2) if they do think you’re a kook for being older and having new gear they can fuck off.

Just skate, have fun, don’t be a dick, and make sure to microwave your trucks to break em in.

The only thing I think when I see someone skating a new complete is sympathy for them…they have to break it all in.
