Anyone tried those expensive Tide pivot cups?I am seaking some softer cup like the ones we had on the old indy standards, those who kept the hanger well locked...

Shouldn't pivot cups be harder, rather than softer? For a smoother turn that is.

They feel good and turn smoothly, I always feel like they make my trucks turn a bit faster.

had them on my Aces, then accidentally gave the trucks away.  worth the 12 bucks or whatever they cost.

To me they made a big different in thunders and ventures, made them turn a lot more smoothly.  That said, some people haven't been overwhelmed by them.

Had them in a set of Indys, I liked them. They definitely improved the turn but also had a dampening effect. Kinda makes the board feel waterlogged.

Used to ride them religiously but ever since Ace seemed to fix their pivot cups in the AF1's, I can't tell a difference so I just ride those now.

They're good, but be aware that they are hard, as they should be. Rather than cushioning your pivot, they reduce friction and let it slide around more freely.
However, they are not as INDESTRUCTIBLE as people give them credit for. I've broken half a dozen of these things, but they do perform better than anything else out there, so.

Yeah I definitely wear through mine as quick, if not sometimes quicker (depending on the circumstances and truck) than the stock pivot cups. They make your trucks quieter and almost feel looser due to the smoother turn. Often I have to tighten my trucks a tad more when I put in riptides

I've noticed that the only ones i broke were the ones i used wax, lube, or a cleaner (usually rubbing alcohol) on.

when swapping them or cleaning them just wipe them out good with a q tip.

I believe Riptide cups are self-lubricating, for future reference. Cleaning them with alcohol probably dries the urethane right up.

Silicon grease and lithium grease are both good for lubrication that won't break down the urethane.

Does anyone make aftermarket cups of different durometer that aren’t this much?

I’m tempted to get a set, but wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Everything else looks basic, or high end like these. Is there a middle ground?

Ace sells their AF1 pivot cups for $7.50/set, which claim to be “96A hand-poured urethane” like Riptides are. I personally feel Aces have a smooth pivot action compared to the harder cups that come in Indys, Thunders, and Ventures., so that might be the cheapest pivot upgrade.

Get them for every new set of trucks, and switch them between same brands if they’re not broken. That being said, recently had a decently new set break in a set of Ventures. Never broke em that fast before, didn’t lubricate or wax them at all, and haven’t even been skating too much lately.
