what editing apps/sites do designers use for board graphics?

just curious bc i'd like to fool around/practice with some design stuff

I don't think there's a specific design tool for board graphics. They just use whatever program they work with and make a template

In your case just use GIMP or photoshop or whatever make a rounded shape (the deck per say) and throw what you want in there.

This could be completely wrong but someone with design knowledge will come and correct me

Illustrator would probably be your best bet. GIMP will be closer to photoshop and would be a good start. For anything that will actually be printed, Illustrator will be better as it won't have pixelation.

i believe graphics are designed as a square usually. make a 9x33 template in ps and get workin

If you can't get your hands on Illustrator, try InkScape. It is free and very similar.

Canva is what people at my work use for a quick presentation or file, not for illustration but for layout design
