I didn't cry but these two films are fucking emotionally devastating:

For anyone who suffered through extreme depression or had a loved one go through extreme depression Melancholia is the best representation of the whole experience. I didn't understand it when I first saw it in the theatre (ironically enough it was the first movie I saw with my ex who suffered from bipolar depression), but I understand it now. Severe depression destroys the person suffering and everyone around them:

And, fuck the 90s were intense in Eastern Europe. This one is based on the true story of a Lithuania girl:

Saw it twice, both times I left the room bawling like a baby.

Dude that movie is so fucked.  Actually all of that that guy’s movies are.  Antichrist fucked me up for like a week after I first watched it.

I love all the different reactions people had to the news the planet was doomed: Jack Bauer immediately bitches out while Kirsten Dunst’s depression evaporates and she seems to be in a state of bliss.

I watched Clerks III recently and I did not expect how emotional it was going to be. Kevin Smith really did Dante dirty.

Yeah this one for sure.  Second place only to Old Yeller.  That movie traumatized me for life.

Alfie (with Michael Caine). It's not a break down cry movie, but generally sad all the way through.

I remember taking the title of The Neverending Story literally and trying to figure out how they fit it onto the VHS tape.  Just didn’t make any sense.

Paddington 2.

The Paddington movies are so damn good, something both kids and adults can thoroughly enjoy. And it's an excellent example of great script writing, casting, pacing, building emotional stakes, setup / payoff and having character arcs.

On a recent flight I watched Philadelphia, towards the end when everyone is saying bye to Tom Hanks in the hospital got me hard. "I'll see you tomorrow buddy".

Haven't watched Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind in a while, not sure how it holds up. But the last fight scene between Joe and Clementine always puts a lump in my throat.

And Marriage Story, Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson are 100% on their monologues and argument scenes.
