Get wax off ledge to make it skateable
« on: March 04, 2023, 02:05:05 AM »
I want to prepare a ledge with a rub brick but it has already plenty of wax on it. Still grinds like shit unfortunately.
Whats the best way to remove the wax?

Scrape off all that you can with whatever tool you have and then use a rag with acetone to take the rest off

Yeah, I would think is both the quickest and most effective way. It's probably paraffin wax, so basically a candle, which will just burn off when heated. Paraffin is toxic to inhale so I'd wear a mask or otherwise avoid breathing it.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

I thought about it too, but I came to the conclusion that it maybe draws to much attention. The spot is in a fairly populated area. But maybe I will try it also with the blowtorch. Thanks guys!

Blow torch. There are some scooter kids that wax the shit out stuff at a park near me, inc. metal coping on a mini. I’ve tried numerous ways to remove wax over the years, and blow torch is UNQUESTIONABLY the best way.

Surf/snowboard base cleaner will work well. Any citrus oil based degreaser/cleaner.
