Where to go on a skatetrip (Central/southern) Europe
« on: December 20, 2022, 06:54:24 AM »
My friends and I are finally able to go on a skatetrip again coming june. We are not sure where to go, maybe you have some tips. Here are the facts:

We are all in our mid to late 30s and most of us have kids. We want to skate street, but it doesn´t have to be skate paradise or the biggest city. Generally speaking we are just stoked as fuck to be able to go skating and have fun. We will probably hit the bars and have some drinks but skating is way more important than just getting wasted.

We are based in Austria. It would be ok to take a plane somewhere but a road trip would be even more fun. Maybe an Italian town? The year before covid we spent a couple of days in Milan which was fun.

It would be nice if the beach is nearby.

We have all been to Barcelona a lot, maybe we go again but maybe some of you have tips for smaller towns with good spots.

Been thinking either northern Italy, southern France or Spain.

Any tips are appreciated, worst that can happen is we go to Barcelona or Milan again which is more than ok in my book :)

I'd say Biarritz, can surf and skate in the same day (if you surf or wanna try/learn).
Milan is miles from the sea, if you don't care about the sea Lyon is epic.

Don't have much to add, but I can imagine southern Spain being scorching hot in June.
Hosin' out the cab of his pickup truck
He's got his 8-track playin' really fuckin' loud

Neapel klingt sehr gut. Ob Eisenstadt oder Mattersburg, you need to come along Pica!

It may be seem too obvious/cliche but Paris is the best answer for this.

There is no beach, but if you want to play in the sand you can go play petanque down by the canal.

Best street skating in Europe. Just cruising around the city is fun. It's a gorgeous city. The nightlife is great. Depending on the week you may intersect with Mens fashion week, so it may be a pro or con depending on what you can tolerate.

Berlin could be fun too. Again, no beach, but you can sit by the river. If you go in June you'll probably have decent weather. And try to get into some clubs at night.

I live in Northern Italy. I wouldn't recommend it if your primary goal is skating. If you want to have a nice holiday that's a different story, it's a great place to chill, have an aperitivo, go up to the mountains, etc., but for skating, it's not the best.

Montpellier seems to be exactly what you're after.
Lot of spots but strangely I almost never see anyone riding a skateboard.

I love skating, well more cruising as fast as possible along the promenade at Plavas, great beach also especially if you west after all the hotels and shit it's empty. Never been in to Montpellier thou. Epic Brazilian restaurant down there (in Plavas-les-Flots) also.
I'm gonna have to go.

I'm not into beach at all but I remember eating at Casa Brasil in Palavas a few years ago. Crazy that you mention it!
Good restaurant indeed.

Yeah it's a great restaurant! Heaps of veggie/vegan options and good but dangerous cocktails.

Valencia/Alicante is a really solid combo. Been there before the pandemic and food/accomodation is really cheap with a decent amount of spots.

Fixed it for you.

I went to Prague in the late 90s and remember being stunned by the beauty of the girls. However, the very first night we got drunk at Pivovar U Fleku with dark beer and Becherovka and then went to the laser game (where you run around with laser tag guns trying to shoot each other). I ran into a rusty iron net headfirst so the rest of the trip I looked like a gnarly street junkie or something so I had no luck flirting tho.

why come?

Also, díky moc :)
But really, Prague is fucking paradise and still is kinda cheap comparing with the rest of Europe.

I just got done with a trip to Marseille. I would recommend it. Good skate spots, good beaches right near the city center, cheaper than Paris, good nightlife that doesn’t go on too late (sometimes the nightlife in Berlin or Barcelona can suck you in a bit too deep  ;D)
