A question almost as old as Skateboarding

This poll is to get some numbers to skater's opinions, on a topic that has been debated for as long as skateboarding has existed. I assume. Skateboarding has always seen skaters of all heights. But does one size have it better?  Short or Tall skaters? Or is there some ideal specific height that’s “just right”. Does your height determine what you're going to skate? Skaters who are smaller have a lower center of gravity but everything's taller. When someone sees a tall kid and says he is going to be a basketball player or a kicking baby and says he could be a soccer player. What would the ideal skater baby size be!? I want to get it down on a poll. Some numbers on the age-old question while also explaining what pros and cons exist. This floor is open for any angles on the subject. I wonder if some will say the opposite height is better or just simply their own height. Let it begin!

I'm not sure it a factor of "better" but just what you're capable of and what looks good.

Both Hewitt and Ishod, who's probably at least a whole foot taller, can destroy a bowl, but they have their own takes and trick selection that is more fitting to their body type. Ishod for styling airs and lip tricks, and Hewitt for FS grinding or inverting the hardest hip in the pool. (Obviously some crossover, but you know what I mean)

Luis Tolentino wasn't that tall (iirc), and could to tit-for-tat on pop with Brophy, who was one of the tallest skaters at one point

I think physique changes your style and outlook of course, but I don't think theres a one-size-fits-all for every type of style and spot.

Personally in a skate sense, I think I'm too lanky for my own good, and could benefit from being 2-3" shorter. Not that it really matters to me.

In very general terms, most pros I've met were significantly shorter than me (I'm 5'10"). I feel like 5'5"-5'7" is the sweet spot, but obviously there's so much variety outside this range that it must not be too important overall

I once saw Willow skate flat a long time ago. He was one head shorter as me, I am 5'8. It seemed very easy for him to pop his tricks waist high.

But I still think it depends on the legs, timing and maybe technique for high ollies. Ya all saw Westgate skating that rubbish can? That was insane.

Lower center of gravity makes skating easier in general. Big skaters also slam harder. But too short and tall obstacles are harder and it's harder to generate as much pop probably. I picked goldilocks which to me is about 5'7". Ofc skaters of all heights can make it work.

Tall folk have it hard. Which is why John Fitzgerald is so fun to watch. It’s very graceful in a way.
