was *the* rick flip a make?

was rewatching rick's questionable part all the way through in 0.25 speed (for max appreciation) when i noticed the landing on the rick flip (the one that gave the trick it's name) looks pretty wild and cuts almost as soon as he hits the ground.

has he ever been asked about this? i know it was pretty common back then.

I'm going to bet everything I own that he didn't name it that...some magazine just put that as a caption and it stuck...

yeah the 0.56 one. looks like a non-make. in my head that was the one that the trick was named after, but apparently people were already calling it that.

I think Mike Smith did the Smith stall (or maybe it was smith stop) and named it himself which then got turned into the Smith grind.
