was *the* rick flip a make?
« on: May 22, 2023, 06:40:25 AM »
was rewatching rick's questionable part all the way through in 0.25 speed (for max appreciation) when i noticed the landing on the rick flip (the one that gave the trick it's name) looks pretty wild and cuts almost as soon as he hits the ground.

has he ever been asked about this? i know it was pretty common back then.

he was doing it before this video dropped.....I think in adventures in cheese he does one.

I'm going to bet everything I own that he didn't name it that...some magazine just put that as a caption and it stuck...

I remember Rickk has a sequence of it in a Blockhead ad down some stairs. I can't remember if it was captioned or not.

Really think someone else named it "Rick Flip" tho. He would've called it "the Queen Elizabeth" or some shit.

I doubt he named it. Has anyone actually named a trick after themselves? That's pretty kooky

ha.

on that topic, lien grabs and salad grinds both got their names from people actively trying to avoid having a trick named after them.

i've watched his old blochead parts but didn't remember that. i thought people started calling it that after questionable because doing down a chunky set was considered so crazy at the time...

Am I understanding properly?

He does a Rick flip off the low C block at 3.22.

You mean the one at .56 it cuts quickly and maybe isn’t a make?

He also did a Nollie nose blunt slide that I’d never fully fathomed before and some crazy switch flips.

Backside 5-0 frontside shove it out in the middle of the ledge is called the Timmy. Called by Tim O connor himself in the Mosaic commentary version. All jokes though

yeah the 0.56 one. looks like a non-make. in my head that was the one that the trick was named after, but apparently people were already calling it that.

Markovich did this trick as well as the full cab front heel….I think the Rick flip was also the vich flip, but I may be getting it mixed up with the front full cab version….

More interesting and what I’ve mentioned before is Rick and his friends called it a my dick heel…..I believe because a regular fakie big was a my cunt….I have no proof of the latter….

I guess Grosso tried to name the roast beef after himself, the Grossman air. Said he couldn't do a stalefish.

Got kooked for putting his name on a heinous trick and thusly became the Roast Beef.
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

I think Mike Smith did the Smith stall (or maybe it was smith stop) and named it himself which then got turned into the Smith grind.
Does Christ air count?
