New Skateboard Storage ?
« on: June 18, 2023, 12:36:43 PM »
So I purchased 2 new decks from Element a month ago. They’ve been sitting in my truck in shrink wrap. Will they or did they get soggy?

Maybe depending on the temp. High temps are known to warp wood

They are likely toast, perhaps even dangerous to use at this point.

Best put on some rubber gloves and an N95, take them to the local skatepark and give them to someone under the age of 15.

Next, find your closest independent skateboard shop and buy something cool.

Best storage is a cool place with a stable temp outside of direct sunlight.

Might depend on the climate where you live, my location is very humid and the temp swings from lower 70s(F) at night to 90+ during the day. I bring my board back in the house after every session.
I never leave decks in my car unless it's one I plan on giving away as soon as possible.

I've had an "oh shit I've forgot my board" setup in my van for five years now and it's still good as the day I built it.

I've changed out the wheels (only because I tried Dragons and found out I didn't like them much but they would be good on a cruiser/had to park far away/move furniture/emergency board) but only because I needed the F4CF for a different setup

It's a Black Label Curb Killer with Ace's, the van is parked under a carport in southern California most of the time. I ride my bike, skate or carpool to work, so the van is used maybe 50 times over a year

Would you keep your dog in a hot car for days at a time?

I dont think a couple days in the car is the end of the world, maybe if its the absolute hottest day of the year in the desert type thing id be worried

I dont think you have to do anything special just take note of the environment... i keep mine in a damp basement but i run a dehumidifier to counteract that.
