I don't think it was too unusual to hold onto footage for that long in the VHS days. His part really needed it to end the video/ have a reason to have Diego as last part following Billy marks very strong part. And I'm guessing they wanted to give Diego last part as a bit of thanks for riding for toy machine when it was about to die which also kinda fucked him over for a bit (quitting think also got him kicked off Indy and spitfire and soured things with him and thrasher for a bit)
ed said that they were both neck and neck for last part & that butcher got it for ollieing that quadruple set in the intro that at the time was supposed to be his ender but it ended up only being in the intro and the 20 being the ender instead. i can’t remember where i saw that, i think it was probably in one of the 50 bonus features on the video, man i need that dvd again now that i think about it.
As someone who has explored every bonus feature in the DVD, please do no watch the Austin Stephens ankle break, it haunts me till today.
I do miss DVD extras, Video Days on What If takes the cake.
Can't remember if it's a bonus but Austin also has that fucked back slam on a little skatepark flatbar in suffer the joy.
As far as the quad set Ollie it was his ender in an Osiris video just to complicate the timeline further
no not that quadruple set, it’s one in brea i think. i thought it was in the intro or one of the trailers but now i can’t seem to find it, it has a black rail both sides & is narrow. there’s another rail there that harmony skated too.
i also noticed jeremy wray constantly showing diego up when i was younger & was always confused by it. i noticed the same thing happening between prod/antwuan back in the day & then antwuan brought it up on the nine club & i couldn’t believe it was real. also austin’s friend’s terrible ankle break is at 41:20
edit : found it. it’s at 15:25 not sure why it was in suffer the joy when it was filmed for good & evil but who knows.
