Gatekeeping in skateboarding
« on: August 16, 2023, 02:26:59 AM »
I saw someone advocating for bullying in a post not too long ago. As someone who is really struggling to find their place in the world(as a newly trans woman) as a result of bullying and misogynistic treatment.. do we really need a to be protecting our beloved activity/hobby to maintain the egos of so few? I say this as someone who is 95% confident in her skateboard abilities and 0% confident in the people around me to support my admittedly weak ass. I also saw some comment on the recent arin Zumbr vid “impossible to be transphobic when she skates like this” skaters can fucking suck sometimes. Hopefully we have a community where I feel comfortable coming out sooner than later

Mods you can delete/move to the queer skater category but i think it’s important for our community as a whole to think about this issue. Thanks
