Back to the Future Trilogy for being something I've probably watched more times than anything else, attended a marathon of all three in theater some years ago.
Saw the first one on a rented VHS. At that point I was aware of skating, I had my first square tail deck but was just tooling around my neighborhood alone,
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Named my prized '91 Civic Lorraine.
Strangers with Candy. This show is the ultimate standard for my sense of humor. Amy Sedaris can do no wrong. Colbert's unfortunate sellout to CBS was a huge disappointment but "my daddy will never die!". Honorable mention to Paul Dinello but I can't tell how he contributed to the writing since he didn't do much after this.
When I saw the movie I had such high hopes but was a little underwhelmed afterward. It's completely grown on me over time.
I've made my own Flatpoint High PE shirt and cosplayed Poppy Downs high off Glint.
@Gene_Harrogate I see you.
Requiem for a Dream for being a movie I've seen only once. probably the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.
Watched with a group at a coworker's place. We sat in utter depressed fucking silence when the credits rolled.
Both my parents suffered years of prescription abuse.
When I was 19 I returned home with a friend after skating to find my dad unconscious on the floor barely breathing. At the time I was very dissociative and had no real bond with him, I just assumed he was old and passed out somehow. I calmly called 911 but before an ambulance arrived my mom returned home so I had to inform her, I'd never seen someone flip out in despair like that. After his resuscitation at the hospital was when my brother and I learned he attempted suicide.
Then we learned my mom had been abusing pills. luckily this event shook them out of their addictions and both were able to pursue and maintain sobriety.
Strange Days. POV consciousness is fascinating.
I was a pretty sheltered kid but I made my first new friend in middle school who knew about skating, he exposed me to riding the bus and watching wild stuff like Akira.
He brought me along to see a late show of Strange Days and I'll never forget the haze of wonder we walked home in.
Past Lives. This story had an uncanny similarity to my friend's own search for his soulmate. He knew this girl when they were children in Korea. He moved to America at a young age and lost touch but reconnected in his 20's. At some point he flew to China to surprise her. I don't remember what transpired there but eventually she moved to America to be with him.
