This list would probably be one of the most difficult to make for me, but I would have to mix up my genres just so I'm covering all of the bases.  As I look through this thread I see so many damn gems, but off the top of my head:
1. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (easily my all time favorite movie)
2. The Unforgiven (this movie gets better and better every time and I love westerns)
3. Goodfellas (the pinnacle of gangster movies to me)
4. The Empire Strikes Back (I could easily say Rogue One here too though)
5. fuuuuuck....Clerks?  that might have to make it in there.  It spoke to me

I think I should watch it one more time. It recently came up in convo with my buddy who used to search out the most intense films he could find. He saw it in theaters and had to go weep in the restroom.

You mentioned Deer Hunter, I’ve had that in mind to watch for a long time. All I know about it is a Russian Roulette scene and I don’t know the outcome.

Feel kinda lame admitting this cause Tim Burton has fallen off so hard since then, but Beetlejuice is definitely in my top 5. Love the two Batman movies he did too.

Definitely some Terrence Malick movie....probably Thin Red Line but Badlands & Days of Heaven are amazing too
