I think being any kind of skate-related YouTuber is automatically the worst job in skateboarding

Idk what good lucrative jobs exist in skateboarding, but being any kind of salesman sounds unappealing.

Maybe a good skate job would be designing a park and/or building said park. Something you can do with your hands.

That actually does sound like a cool job, but I bet there's only like 3 people designing skateparks in the entire US

Being a shoe-designer, I guess. Would love to try it, but I surely have no talent

Most "big guys" have good and well payed jobs. Like Ty or Sinlcair.

I'd say it's probably whoever has to work under the people we name. Cuz those people are suffering the worst.

I think Dale is the king tho regardless of who watches which channel.

He's the goat tuber and I like him
He's like the master block of YouTube

idk about worst but the worst people in the skate industry are those dudes who kind of suck at skating or arent very good and let you know every other sentence of their proximity and knowledge of the skateboard industry and their 2 degrees of separation to people we are saying have a shitty job in this thread.

Talking about brands and skateboarders who don't know you personally as if they did is psychotic, yet common behavior.

Worst job is probably the skate company account manager for the venture capital firm when their acquisition turns to shit  and all the forecasted numbers are ass because SLAP saw your completes in a Dick's sporting goods. Ha!

Maybe a good skate job would be designing a park and/or building said park. Something you can do with your hands.

My first day on the job as a skatepark builder, the owner of the company said to me "You don't wanna be doing this when you're my age." It was the second time I had a boss / manager tell me that on the first day. The other time was when I was fueling up jets.

In skateboarding I've been a filmer, video editor, photographer, team manager, in house sales rep, skate shop / park employee, concrete park builder, and website manager. They all have their pros and cons, which are kinda dependent on where you are at in life.

Looking back, the worst out of all of them was my very short time as an in house sales rep. Calling up skate shops and trying to get them to buy shit for a brand that had next to zero demand for it sucked. I'm sure if the brand was in high demand, the experience would have been different, but you're still cold calling shops all day long...

Most of them if you are older than 25 and not a trust fund baby. The pay is such shit and living with 10 other skate dudes at 35 sounds miserable.

I remember working for free for a bigger company just so they'd pay for my trip to ASR. Looking back, why in the hell did I work a conference for three days just for an airplane ticket and access to ASR? Even stupider, I was a commission only rep for smaller company, I drove out to ASR and paid for my own hotel. It was fun to get access to ASR, but now I can't imagine working for free just to be part of the scene.

Do people really call customer service at skate companies though? "Hey it broke"

more for product defects, etc. If the sole of your shoe is falling off after a few weeks or your board is starting to delam, that's a majority of the stuff that people will call/email about

there's definitely some randomass shit people will email about. Some of my homies work in customer service and a chick emailed them saying "hey i bought shoes these for my boyfriend for christmas and found out he cheated on me, can i return these?" several months later.

also - if you're at a company that does re-issues or anything similar to that, be prepared for enthusiasts to send you hate mail on a re-issue if it has any missing detail or is off in any way. most of the #sk8shoewars community is pretty chill, but there's one or two dudes that suck and will email you all heated saying "you're ripping me off" or "you're scamming us" because of a minor detail that was missing instead of just returning the shoe that they're bummed on.

best/worst job id imagine would have to be a footwear designer, i've seen footwear designers make some really dope shit only to end up with the design being bastardized because it didn't completely fit the "brand image" or whatever so they had to drastically change the design to where it no longer looks like it's original design. That's gotta suck starting with a sick product and having it look like shit by the end. However to those skate shoe companies that don't do this as much, shout out to y'all for trusting your designers and letting them have their creative freedom
