Worst job in skateboard industry

any - I am glad that I stopped early selling skateboards. Skateboarding is the best, but the industry seems to suck. Difficult to make a good living as an adult, if you are not doing Nike or Monster.

I'd say being a mid-tier pro skater whose doesn't have a corporate shoe sponsorship. Board royalties aren't enough to survive on, probably have to work a day job and your career is fucked if you get injured or need surgery - made worse by shit medical insurance. Your career lifespan is short and can be shorted if your knees or ankles are wrecked.

At least the video / photographers can still find commercial work outside, as can the office drones like creatives and sales guys.

I would think being a middle aged box packer for like CCS must not feel too great but then again, I’m sure it’s super low stress and you get to be in involved in something you’re passionate about. The second thing that comes to mind is whoever was TM for termite back in the day. Trying to manage a group of young, hyper skate rats on a trip couldn’t have been fun.

I said this a million times, but I knew a guy who worked at several local skate shops, and he was always getting shit all over by the bosses, never made any money, and never had health insurance or anything like that. He started working at CCS, and they gave him insurance, paid him more than he had ever made it skate shop, and is generally much happier there than at the super exploitative local shops.

Late reply but good for your friend and good on CCS. Glad they take care of their people. FWIW, didn't mean to call them out specifically. I saw an ad for them right before commenting that so it was the first thing I thought of lol.
