What's your favorite city to skate?
« on: September 14, 2023, 11:40:53 PM »
Make a case for your favorite city to skate in. How does it differ and what makes it stand out in your mind? Could be your hometown, a random city you once drove thru, a popular skate destination, I don't care. I would love to hear what Slap has to say.

This is a very large subject, as it depends on if one is focusing purely on the skate spots available, or on other items (bars, nightlife, museums, general vibe) available. Also, depends on how much one has seen of the world.. ;)

Hard to name only one, but the following come to mind:

For spots - Seoul, South Korea
For vibes - Paris, France
Hidden gem - Helsinki, Finland

I suck, so every city with an empty parking lot, a manhole cover and a slappy curb will do.
why come?

Manama. I lived in Bahrain from 1985 to 1993. I didn't realize how good I had it because it wasn't Venice Beach or San Francisco.

It was a newly developed city so there was over the top granite/ marble everywhere combined with unique architecture. The curbs were insane. Some were tiny and others were almost knee high ledges, all caked in thick slippery paint. Banks, gaps,  everything grindable. Big empty parking lots.  And security had no idea what to do with us skateboarders. I'd imagine Dubai had similar vibes.
