Nike releases - no Shane O'Neill
« on: October 29, 2023, 03:16:34 AM »
Do Nike only sell a select group of shoes on their site or is that basically the latest season or whatever they call it?

I've skated the Shane O'Neills endlessly for the past 5ish years and they're getting harder to find. Have they stopped producing them?

Probably didn't made sense to have them since Janoskis came back and they're pretty much the same shoe.

Shane’s shoe is discontinued. Confirmed by him in an instagram comment.

Oh wow. Ok, didn't expect that but fair enough.

Need to get wedded to a shoe that won't get cancelled.

Do blazers skate very similar? They look slightly bulkier

Gotta say that the Shane shoe is one of the least durable shoes made. It's amazing that someone who flicks as much as Shane wouldn't have beefed up the toe vamp/sole to handle wear with his pro shoe.

Everyone I see that skates these burns through the toe in 1-2 weeks easily. I'm expecting current Janoski run will be the same. Not worth your money and is a shame Shane didn't get a better performing shoe instead of a worse copycat of the Janoski

yeah i had some of the shane’s….what’s weird is they hurt my feet less than half cabs.
look dumb tho. at least half cabs look cool.
i remember the cork sole on the janoski being pleasant, but i was old then, and less fat.

I still have not seen Shane’s shoe worn in real life.  I thought it was an elaborate hoax…

I’ve seen on older men who look like they’d buy their sneakers at a vans store or some other mall shop.

That said, it had a good run.   Pro models rarely run forever.    A little surprised he never got a 2nd shoe, but Shane strikes as someone who’s content with what they have going on

I think the only way a second shoe for Shane would make sense (for Nike) is if they did something completely different but then that maybe isn't something Shane would want as he basically wore exclusively janoskis from their release until his own shoe came out.

His shoe came out in Feb 2020. That's a longer run than the majority of pro shoes but it's also all COVID period so who knows what affect that had on everything

Janoskis were unavailable for these past years just to push sales of Shane's shoe but as they making come back now there's no space for both of these models.

For a pro of his caliber with a long history on Nike it’s unfortunate that he ended up with what I would consider to be a payless version of the janoski a few years after the thin vulc craze of the 2010s passed. They didn’t look good and it makes sense that Nike is moving on.

Shane's pro shoe has only been out 3, 4 years at most once 2024 rolls around. Person who said 5 is incorrect.  However, if they were including the Janoski HT versions that came out in 2017/18, then 5 years can apply

Shane's shoe came out in 2020. Three years is about the longest run for a pro shoe besides Stefan's.

at least his model was better then these janoski copycats

funny enough the first ones were called the "satire" - there was also another sb shoe called the "ghost" around the same time the project BAs were out.

Has Stefan or Busenitz had a pro model longer?

At this point Busenitz has been in production for longer than Janoski, as I don't recall Adidas ever dropping his shoe for a season(s) like how Nike dropped Janoski for 3 or so years.

Happy to be corrected though!

Without digging too deeply, my money is on Busenitz released first because his shoe was in Skate 3 around that same time if I'm not mistaken

Half Cab is a pro model that’s been out longer than either of those.

Both came out within a short period of time in 2009. Busenitz  “Spring” and Janoski in May.

Shane’s contribution to skateboarding & Nike deserves a second shoe.
I can’t see how the justify leo having a shoe but not Shane.

Nike always does whatever they want with no rhyme or reason. Could be that they're just pushing a new model/skater, nothing personal against Shane.

Half cabs have entered that Chuck Taylor, Jack Purcell, Stan Smith level that transcends being “just a pro model”.

I didn’t see it mentioned but the GT blazer has been in the line-up for a while now. Just did a lil google research and looks like it came out in 2015, 9 years and still going is pretty long for a Nike shoe.
