My experience with lexapro was mostly posi, until I'd have one or two beers, and my brain felt like I'd taken a bit of MDMA. Straight wide awake and humming. Which is great if I'm having a night out, but not so great if it was for work (alcohol is my job). 4am on a Tuesday night, smoking weed and ordering uber eats, because I'd decided to have two drinks in the evening.

Also coming off it sucked hard. Brain zaps are no good.

But overall: thank you modern science.

I've been off and on ssri's since my early 20s and I had the most intense brain zaps of my life about 2 years ago coming of citalopram, which is the early version of lexapro. ended up losing my insurance and had to come off of them pretty much cold turkey. in fact, I made a thread about it when I first signed up for slap. got some really positive encouragement from everyone. it honestly helped a lot. the brain zaps and withdrawal symptoms lasted almost two months. along with brain zaps I got migraines. when they first started I wasn't able to move my line of vision quickly, be in brightly lit rooms, or really be around anyone. it sucked.

I have not been on anything since then but have also made extremely healthy changes in my lifestyle. I wouldn't wish ssri withdrawal on anyone.
