Panasonic HPX170/171/250 Bayo Mount to 4K Cam?
« on: November 03, 2023, 03:29:25 AM »
Hey fellow filmers, I hope you and your filmers backs are all well.

I'm looking to go 4K for solo video work but also want to use it to film skateboarding with (of course!)
the HPX250 I use has a 72mm bayo, as does the 4K Panasonic DVX200, but I believe the actual nubbins my Xtreme would slide into are quite different.

My question is, do any of you have any knowledge in regards to unscrewing the front bayo mount element of a camera onto another camera? If I could unscrew my HPX250 mount and replace it onto the Pana DVX200 mount would be the dream, but for some reason I can't imagine it being as easy as that.

What are your thoughts?
And if it seems unfeasible, are there any multi adapters (I know theres a few sellers on Instagram) that will do the job?
Thankyou everyone!

I hope you're all well!

Here's two photos below of both the 171 and DVX200 front bayo elements for reference.

Hey,

I believe it's easier to have someone make a new bayo for your fisheye than switch bayo from one camera to another.
A guy having access to a CNC machine could make the adapter for you. Some would consider it a fun project to do.

But if you want to use the xtreme on the dvx200, it's been tested. The dvx200 can't focus in the xtreme.

Dude, I should’ve just DM’d you, you’re the absolute best. Thank you!

I think I’m gonna try the Panasonic HX270. My HPX250 films upto 1080i, which I don’t want. I’m wanting 1080p/50/60FPS not interlaced which the HX270 offers. Plus, it has a smaller body with the screen in what I’d say is a better place.

Do you know much on the model? I seen it used on a snowboarding crew video recently and it looks great.

I think the Panasonic Cx350 works great with the xtreme, if you have someone make a new bayo mount for the lens. That camera can focus with the lens on perfectly fine. I know the HCX1/UX180 can as well, but have yet to see someone actually use the fish on those setups

I had a Panasonic ac160, it works with the hpx xtreme and does 1080/60p on a compressed codec. I liked the fisheye footage but the steady shot stabilizer for long lens always overcompensated. I personally didn’t like the camera also because it’s not 3ccd and the colors always looked a little off to me.
