I dig the part. Frankie may not be the most gracious skater out there, but neither is he the most atrocious one. Besides, he does a lot of heavy shit, filming was nice, edit was smooth, spots were dope...
And it all got me to thinking - I perfectly understand the life cycle of a brand, I understand that the board brands, save for the select few, are simply passion projects nowadays and exist solely so the homies would have some wood to hop onto (heh...heh...), I understand the changing trends... But the Sect camp has absolutely everything to be great, still. If not great, at least not to be a carcass like it is nowadays.
They have an amazing roster. Between AWS and Habitat they have Suciu, SBN, Dela, JOB, Yaje, Joey Guevara, Frankie, Bob, Janoski, maybe even Austyn (at least they had him until recently)...multiple SOTYs, some of the hardest rippers and skater's skaters (Dela, JOB), legacy dudes like Bob and Janoski, the rest of the guys are pretty much universally beloved or at least above average...
Most of the dudes they have are mad productive, even Silas who is almost a legacy pro at this point. Ok, Stefan hardly skates anymore, but that's hardly his role anymore.
They have a pretty distinct art direction and legacy from which they can draw on, and that direction fills up a void in current board-brand ecosphere...
I mean, it's not that they could relive their heyday, be as big as they were from, say, 1995 -2010, or revamp themselves like Baker, but they could at least coast comfortably, not be an afterthought.
Is it the lack of funds, lack of money in the game in large, Castrucci and the gang being deflated, not wanting to hand over the reins...?
