Does anyone understand the main lyric? Shoot for the moon but bring your broom?

Does that mean like, aim high but work hard?
I think it’s expect the best prepare for the worst sorta thing

interesting question you pose here... this is a situation in which the, "art is open to interpretation," idea could come in real handy IF Mike V wasn't a surface level deep person.

I'm gonna say that the meaning behind the lyric is Mike realized those two words rhyme.

When I get some time, I'll likely put together some type of literary analysis of the lyrics. I think they may possibly be quite deep. Definitely not Puleo number conspiracy deep though.

Mike's obsession with being Henry goes beyond kook into nutso territory.  I am surprised he didn't follow him straight to Nashville when Henry left LA.  Makes you wonder if his move to Des Moines was to copy him too.

Don't underestimate his work. At the very least, you'd want to utilize cognitive semiotics to incorporate a more interdisciplinary approach.

Mike has that thing where he's obviously has a huge ego, but no true self belief.  He seems so utterly insecure but is determined to be an idea of himself that he doesn't completely believe or even understand.  The Rollins template of the thinking man thug rocker, clearly enunciating every word under an impotent snarl. His face contorts with the movements he thinks echo the vibes he's trying to create, but never connect to anything.  Lost between the smiles of a TikTok dancer & a bad boy rocker grimace while never landing either is like pouring lemon juice into my souls dickhole.  The song has the sentiment of what he wants to be perceived as, but is basically just a Battle of the Bands 8th place vibe with every line so utterly out of time & unconnected to the rhythm of the song that it makes my arms hurt & the whole thing makes me so uneasy & anxious to watch it, but I can't look away.
I saw him front Black Flag and it was good to see Ginn play guitar, but fuckin' hell, he went on this spoken word rant that basically culminated into saying he's gonna rape someone.  Dude is just grasping for a world he has no idea how to access.

Dude is livng his dream life running a successful skate company with his fam, singing in bands & joining Black Flag, it's the Gen X dream, but in his heart he's just a sad boy who needs to be told he's doing well.  Doing It.  It's sad & enthralling and I fuckin' love it as much as it's at war with my soul.

Took a shower this morning and I was DOIN’ IT!

V has won. I think we have a certified platinum song on our hands.

It’s too bad CKY isn’t a thing anymore because it would be an absolute banger in there. We’re talking beat up four jocks level of fame amongst the non-skaters of the world, and heartogram levels of paychecks.

I, too, cannot stop listening to this song. I find myself compelled to return to the comforting acoustic bosom that is "Doin' it" five times per day like a devoted Muslim is compelled to pray at regular intervals throughout their day.

fuck, it's like eazy-e learning to rap in that NWA movie - how could you be in bands for as long as this guy has and have such poor timing? very poorly executed. it's awkwardly slow too - i put it on 1.5x speed and it's a little better, but it's still pretty nasty.
[close]

It’s remarkable how bad his timing is! I wastched this at 2am last night and now I’m back—it’d be impossible for anyone who’s sung a song, ever, to recreate his timing. Insane!!!

You had to sleep on it to let it sink in

Can't deny his road honed mic technique
I like that a song with 30 seconds of content goes for nearly 5 minutes, too
