Mike Vs got that PMA.
Right?!?
He’s all smiles & nary a scowl or stern look to be seen.
Still trying to make up my mind on how I feel about this latest “Mike V hugs for random ocks in a parking lot” iteration of the dood.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?

if we look at this through the lens of black flag, this feels pretty honest. rollins makes legendary black flag records and goes on to create the abomination that is rollins band. mike v sings rollins' black flag songs poorly, and goes on to make this abomination. if anything, mike v is just a completist.

Rollins Band will always rule for getting this masterpiece on regular rotation on MTV

yeah i don't think it's fair to call the entire rollins band output abominable, i know what you mean though.

Also this gem..

If anyone is going to tell me about Doin' It, it is going to be LL Cool J. Mike V needs to pack up his Jeep and drive off into the sunset already.

Came here for this.

That's actually a decent track. my girlfriend was in to this track.

Y'know, as time goes on there really is very minimal difference between Mike V and Doug Brown.

Mike V feels like a whore(slip em on)
Because he shilled for Cariuma the night before(slip em on)
Now he’s back, but saying he’s more core.
He says he won’t wear em, says he won’t wear em, says he won’t wear em but then he slips em oooooooonnn in.

When’s he going to go mullet, shirtless, tiny shorts Rollins?
Now that’s the version I really want to see.

The Mike V/Rollins parallel trajectory wouldn't be complete without some spoken word

Mercy.

I was a long-time fan (and still am) of ´ol Mike V´s style of skating, especially his early to mid-career video parts. The man is deservedly part of skate history. I know a couple of people who have made graphics for his various companies. He has seemingly mismanaged and self-sabotaged some promising professional relationships (while also rejecting potential friendships). This seems due to his self-perception. People who are ¨figures¨ in skateboarding are just human beings at the end of the day like anyone else. I´d like to see him work as a team manager for a more active company in skateboarding. I think he would be really good at that. Seems like he would also be a good K-12 substitute teacher...social studies, philosophy, and recess. He certainly has drive...maybe he´d enjoy a list of third-act career options?...or maybe he is happy where he is? Only he knows. Those Cariuma shoes are $89.00 per pair. He´s fronting a band with some of his heroes...Good on him.

I got to stop Google-searching and get outdoors and skate!

I’ve been doing DoorDash lately, I recently listened to the Mike V episode and his ‘Stop and Chat’s. He seemed like a pretty nice and cool guy. He was both humble but also not shy to admit he was a really influential skateboarder. The latter part didn’t come off in a bad way either. Talking about how great Cariuma is was woof, seeing this post of him doing spoken word that I thought about was woof… but the worst thing was him speaking so highly of Greg Ginn calling him a really sweet guy.

https://www.brooklynvegan.com/ron-reyes-makes/

No, he’s fucking terrible. He also doesn’t pay royalties to anyone on SST records, or if he does/ever did it was extremely marginal. He’s the fucking worst and Mike V should be kicking his ass, not hugging him.

He was performing spoken word outside the vehicle, and they all just decided to stay put and roll the windows up.

Never liked Henry Rollins. Always came off as a holier than thou douche. Best thing I ever read about Henry Rollins was a YouTube comment on an interview with him...author wrote "seems like the kind of guy that would yell at ducks in a park". Yep. Mike V just needs constant reinforcement for his contributions to early street skating. Also a douche.

I like Henry’s takes on music, but his take on Robin Williams in regards to suicide was pretty narrow minded.

Sometimes his opinions are a huge miss.

as someone who actually liked Mike V and the Rats when they were a kid and who even tolerated Revolution Mother i don't understand how he could take such a nosedive in skill both songwriting and vocal performance. Not that he was ever great but this is some nursery rhyme, teachers making a 'rap' for a school assembly, 90s anti-drug after school special level stuff right here as far as the lack of creativity and craft goes.

also the explorer bass haha  8)

Not sure if this is on purpose but it's the exact vocal meter for the diarrhea song ("when your class thinks it's funny, but it's real hot and runny, diarrhea, diarrhea").

There should be a program for fading pro skaters where when board sales get to a certain valley, the UPS guy that picks up all of the shipments at the board company takes you back to the warehouse, gives you a uniform and a truck, helps you join the union, and now you're a UPS guy making a decent living so we don't have to see guys do embarrassing shit like this in their 50s and 60s.

fuck, it's like eazy-e learning to rap in that NWA movie - how could you be in bands for as long as this guy has and have such poor timing? very poorly executed. it's awkwardly slow too - i put it on 1.5x speed and it's a little better, but it's still pretty nasty.

It’s remarkable how bad his timing is! I wastched this at 2am last night and now I’m back—it’d be impossible for anyone who’s sung a song, ever, to recreate his timing. Insane!!!

there are now 8 billion people living on the planet - the more people that live on the planet, the more of a chance that this is someone's favorite song, no matter how astronomically small
