Brain Drain Show (U.K. Skateboarding Podcast)
« on: December 14, 2023, 02:53:50 AM »
Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well!

A little while ago myself and my friend Toby started a podcast called The Brain Drain Show with aims to interview some of our favourite skateboarders. So far, we've interviewed a bunch of really great dudes;

Lord Div Adam of Anti Hero
John Benton of Fancy Lad Skateboards
Zick Zorlac & Dan Cates from Death Skateboards
Lee Dainton, Matt Pritchard & Dan Joyce of Dirty Sanchez fame
Craig Questions Scott of Heroin Skateboards
Stu Smith from Lovenskate
Mark Munson of Airwalk, Duffs etc who guided Ben Raemers to fame
Morph (Palace Filmer) and many more.

I tried to embed the playlist but it didn't work so here's our latest episode.

We've got some incredible people lined up for 2024, including; Ali Cairns of Birdhouse Skateboards & Unabomber, Carl Shipman of Stereo, Vaughn Baker of Blueprint Skateboards, Mark Churchill, Pete Dossett of Deathbox (Pre-Flip), Craig Smedley of Unabomber and a bunch more!!

I hope you guys enjoy it, and send any recommendations for future guests.

I watched the Morph episode when that came out, because he's dead funny. I'll be sure to check out the others.

Pritchard one should be funny, I loved Dirty Sanchez when I was a kid, they were nuts - it's remarkable how much Pritchard has changed with his lifestyle and how much he's killing it, because those guys went heavy with the ale. Good on him!

100% mate! They’ve all changed their lifestyles and they’re still smashing it to this day.
I was shocked to find out that Sanchez didn’t really take off til they were nearing 30. I’m 32 and just sleeping kill’s me now, so imagine those guys nearly dying every episode sends chills down my spine.

I can always ask bud. I’ll drop Bromley a call next week ❤️
There’s been talks between me and Fos about doing something U.K. related.

Ideally, I’d like to make a video with Dead Dave, Questions and Tom Day with maybe a short part from Pulman, a montage of any of the U.K. riders on Heroin + a short USA montage that Fos can cover his end.

Thankyou for the lovely comment, I’ve just messaged Fos about it. Let’s see what we can get up to 2024. I’m more than keen.

At the moment I’m working on another full length. Dave will have a part I’m sure, and hopefully another Pulman part too. Tom is super keen to film and so is Craig so something could happen I’m sure!

That line-up sounds like a dream come true. The world needs more UK Heroin footage. I would do unspeakable things for a new Tom and/or Craig part.

Also, the Baghead video's are dope af, Satan and Funeral are still in my regular rotation. The UK scene truly seems like it has something special, at least from the outside looking in. Thanks for killing it Forde!

Thanks man, it really means a lot! We're still going strong it's just figuring out everyone's schedules and working round it.
I've actually been going to Boston MA quite a bit to stay with Tomasello and the Fancy Lad guys, I love it out there. I've been looking into ways to move out to MA for the last year haha.

Full Tomasello being a creative weirdo is most certainly incoming, along with a bunch of great Fancy Lad dudes! I'm already hyped to get it out, it'll just take a while. Roll on 2025 haha

Thanks again mate! <3

You should try and get the likes of Danny Brady, Nick Jensen, Paul Shier & Chewy Cannon on, that'd be sick.

100% agree, but they're all very hard to pin down haha. Paul is living out the country and Chewy is (I think) in Spain.
It's definitely worth an ask so I'll throw some feelers out there.

Anyone else from the U.K. you think would be good to get on?

Great episode, and love all the guests you’ve had on. Super refreshing to hear some honest opinions on some big names in the game. Carl calling Reyes a cock and Toby’s comments about Danny Way being a dick in a previous episode could only come from straight-talking Brits. Funny shit. Great work guys!

Would love to see some of the following UK legends:

Howard Cooke
Frank Stephens
Chris Oliver
Stu Graham
John Rattray
Ben Leyden
Scott Palmer
Colin Kennedy
Flynn Trottman
Rodney Clarke

Countless others.

The Shipman interview was amazing. Apart from the fact that he has the same accent as my dear old grandma, he shot from the hip in an honest way.

Sound bloke and the two hosts are the right blend of skate nerds and humans who know how to let someone express themselves.

I’m a fan.
