Noah liking max palmer makes so much sense.

Also there is skate video that only use avey tare and kria solo record, missed opportunity on jenkem’s part.

Ah Animal Collective… “bros who like to trip” as my one friend described them once.

Jokes aside, I loved Animal Collective and the MPP album when it came out. Using My Girls was the perfect storm of timing, skating, and editing. I’m not sure it would hit the same if it was used today with some trendy skater

I'd heard a good amount of these stories before but nice to see them all in one feature.
Ian actually didn't mention that because of the timing of Mindfield and MPP's release, they actually gave Greg Hunt an advance of the record to edit with, which is considerable enough with how it later became the group's top-selling/most popular record.

Never met Noah but David is super nice and had a friend that had great things to say about meeting Josh.

Yes! I thought that was true. I actually remember reading an SLAP article online maybe after MindField was released with Animal Collective. I was in the 6th grade.

This part & record will always be so special to me.

Cool to hear their relationship with skating!
I saw them live once close to ten years ago. I went specifically hoping to hear them play My Girls. Unfortunately they didn’t play it but there performance was great, very trippy. On a setlist website I noticed that they do not play that song. And after listening to this interview it makes sense why.
I think that JJ part is in my top 5 favorite parts of all time. Maybeeee it wouldn’t be if it wasn’t for that song.

Yeah, became a member last year, i'm all about those bootlegs.

You can find Atiba Song on youtube

Panda released it on his twitter in 2020. Besides that there are no other known anco songs that feature skates sounds prominently. I thought of Avey's Saturdays (again) but upon close listen it sounds more like a herd of cowbells. They do have a thrasher interview from sometime in 2021 where they briefly mention recording skate sounds

and download it here https://www.mediafire.com/file/4qu1pwzga6th0pw/atibas_song_nl2.aif/file

The Mindfield thread was my first time coming on Slap! I was an excited teenager who pre-ordered the DVD and was looking for any scraps of info I could find about it, I remember when it finally came Jake’s part easily hit the hardest, in big part to the song. to this day they are one of my favorite bands and I’ve seen them live many times.

that had to have been some of my earliest days lurking SLAP as well
I remember when Arto/Dyrdek and maybe one other's Mindfield part leaked, anyone else remember that?

Nice - that period felt really special to me. It's like my taste in skating and music overlapped for a year or two :) (then I got super tired of indie for the next 10 years, and now I'm so old that I'm nostalgic about it)
