As a lifelong Hawaii resident it makes me super happy to see our spots get shredded the fuck out of by people who don’t live here and have a completely different eye and approach to our everyday stuff that we have skated for years.
First of all Eli is a fucking madman, period.
That fucking giant rail he grinded at the end is something that’s been there forever and no one I mean no fucking body ever looked at that thing at thought “you know, I think that is totally makeable and I’m gonna give er a go”.
Wait I take that back, I heard a rollerblader actually stepped to that thing but holy shit it was wild to see Eli barge that thing and handle it, my homie George lives in the neighborhood and actually saw this go down and texted me right after, shout out to George he probably has a good angle on his phone that he can post now haha.
The frontside grind over the bank to wall with the hole is fucking batshit crazy also, across from where he did the impossible noseslide (also wild) but his frontside tailslide to fakie on that out ledge (entire thing) is insane and two blocks from where I live and that ledge is terrifying, I front 50d it in my younger days it’s super low to get on but then the drop off at the end is over head high and it doesn’t really get much action from locals and nobody had front tailed the entire fucking thing til now. Yikes.
Also the long rail that Curren frontside Smith grinded, also the entire thing, is right where I drop off my kids at school every morning and I talk to them about tricks on it all the time, it’s actually called the Nyjah rail cuz Jah backside 5-0 grinded the entire thing which is also nuts.
I was at the Ray Barbee show and he ripped, couldn’t find myself in the crowd goddammit I wanted some BGPs in this thing.
More tropical b roll would have been nice as mentioned, this place is far too beautiful to not have done at least a smidge.
