Man is living the dream.

That woman is his handler right?

How can someone say that first sentence after the second one?
I feel like there's no intersection between living a dream life and having to have a handler.

2nd vote would be for PJ. sometimes it is a fine command of the english language to say nothing and he extended that to skating. PJ's plan B part is the emperor's new clothes.

Penny speaks multiple languages and gets paid to travel and skate as much or as little as he pleases. People have also said that woman is his partner now but I don't want to speculate. There's lots of dysfunctional people that need help for whatever reason I'm not hating on him.

He’s gotta be pushing 50 skating like that still.  Not sure who’s “living the dream” but compared to where many people are his age, he’s in a pretty good spot at least being that healthy.

AO, Gino, and others should really take note (not really - they can do whatever they want) but the kick flip at 1:18 is everything.  we dont need full parts, just a clip like that every so often.

He looks a lot better and healthier than a few years ago. Skates cleaner too. Kickflip to fakie was very nice indeed.

His voice reminds me of another Englishman, George Harrison?

maybe it's also his clothes but he seems in really good shape and his style is clean. I remember some good but stiff clips in the previous years

Yeah I don’t know if it’s skating more, or some lifestyle change, but it is pretty noticeable that he’s so much smoother than 5-7 years ago, which is not the way aging is supposed to work.

That all depends on who the handler is and what is being handled.

That all depends on who the handler is and what is being handled.

I am pretty sure it is the same woman.
She's from Chile originally and iirc they have one or two kids.

So I guess she's "handling" Penny in more than one way (notch, notch, know what I mean?)

On a side note, they used to refer to her as a "minder" which has a more negative connotation than "handler".

Another side note, I also remember reading somewhere that Penny's mother does his finances and just the fact that she moved from Oxford to southern France to what looked like quite a big house in the countryside makes me think she must be at least somewhat good at finances.

If she took good care of 30+ years of royalties, incentives, salary etc. Tom could well be a millionaire right now. He also seems like the kind of guy who doesn't have a lavish lifestyle (except for drugs maybe but he looks clean nowadays).

I really hope he keeps this up, kind of crazy there's still new Penny footage in 2024. At one point, probably around 1998 when there were rumors he was squatting in London and doing horse, I really thought he wouldn't make it past 30.

Really? I know of one kid, dylan i believe, but that was from an interview in 2006 iirc.

As far as the handler thing goes, i think all he does is skate, and she handles the rest, bills and traveling and whatnot. He was in amsterdam about 2 years ago and i heard he was rather crusty, so i suppose it's needed.

What board size is that? I assumed he skated small boards but this one looks like a 8.25 or 8.375... Hhmmm...

I think you're right, probably one kid. Iirc he is with his kid in the Pretty Sweet Legends section?

As for Amsterdam, I do remember footage of him wasted at a bowl, still landing a nice frontside ollie though, and looking very out of this world. But that was about 6 years ago? Footage was deleted later.

If he just smokes weed now we will probably still see Penny footage in 2050.

Oh interesting, i'll check out pretty sweet. And he was also in amsterdam after copenhagen open in berlin 21/22, i can't remember. I almost dropped everything to drive over haha.

He's with winkle often, if you check his channel there's a lot of 'behind the scenes/talking' footage. Skatefooty in abundance if you follow cultoftom and his own insta, the man doesn't stop.

EDIT:
No that's Jesus's kid.

Tom's son is older; from transworld

Quote
As Tom finally began to emerge from his long exile and returned to screens via Menikmati in 2000, then Sorry in 2002, Penny fans hailed his return to the spotlight. He even fathered a son, Nicholas, in '03 in California, and decided once and for all that sobriety was the best course for his skateboarding's future, having pretty much run the gamut in terms of intoxication.

anyways i'll drop it now, tempting as it is because of the enigma, i don't wanna breach his private life.
