I wouldn’t consider myself tech but I do a lot of manual stuff and flatground on a 9” egg with 8.75 trucks. It’s insanely light though and I just enjoy having more board to land on and room to grind.

I skated 9.4" egg paired with 8.75 or 9" trucks and 56mm wheels last weekend. I dont skate much tech nowadays but I could do my usual tech tricks (flip in or out grinds/slides/manuals) with it. No problem playing SKATE also. I mean it doesn’t flip and spin like sub 9" boards but it still worked for me pretty well.

8.25 is actually the most common size produced/available in skate shops, so im gonna assume that it is the biggest seller / most popular size at the moment. Most pros ride this size these days too from the billion setup vids i have watched.

I think Villani is going to be the best current answer you will get for most technical, and he is still fairly on the gnar side.  Kader also rides a huge board and he is fairly technical but again also fairly on the gnar side too.

Chris Cole

This is the correct answer. Chris can basically do any flip trick into anything on 8,5 with 149s.

Grown man on anything sub 8.5 looks absolutely silly, regardless of tech ability

i would consider concerning your board size more the size of you body, then your preference in tricks.

If you are 6 foot high and having shoe size 13 a 7,625 is more easy to flip then a 9,0 - but in my opinion its
to small for you.

And yes with a "smaller" board you can flip faster / better - but with a bigger board you can control better.
So yes a flat 540 flip will be more "easy" with a small then with a "big" board.
But you will have less control if you try a simple backside kickflip down 8 stairs.

Try to find a board fitting to your body - and it will fits to you skating - no matter the tricks.

I'm not sure about this. Big boards look a bit clunky on a lot of people that do more than grind curbs or skate transition. I always think about sizing down to 7.75 again after watching older videos because the tricks look so crispy. There was a lot of ugly tight trucks and tic tacs back then though.

my friend skates pretty much only tech on a 10" egg and he swears by it. but hes a big guy too.
before that it was allways 9" pops.

i was surprised 8.5 was what was considered wide in this thread. thats been the standard size for the last 10 years atleast.

The best skating I have ever done in recent years was when I skated the palace 7.75, 13.8wb deck with venture low 5.0. sounds ridiculous but it felt effortless
