How long does a board last you?
« on: April 11, 2024, 12:11:40 AM »
Lately it's been around 2-3 weeks. I skate pretty much everyday. Closing shifts I can't force myself to wake up early to wake up and go skate. The longest I rode a deck was probably last year and I managed to squeeze the life of two shoes into skating the same deck. I think it was a month and a half.
We rode 7.5's" and didn't complain.

I tally up how long they last me because I'm a dork and like to know how much I'm spending on gear. I consistently get about 80 hours of skating out of a BBS Polar deck, which is roughly 6 months. Before covid I exclusively skated transition and decks lasted me 100 hours, meaning flatground has made my decks 20% less cost effective.

One month is pretty accurate, only have time to skate three times a week these days. Usually donate board to someone in need or this guy that does furniture out of used boards.

when I was healthy and skating 3-4 times a week, would be about a month - 1.5 months and haven't snapped a deck in years, would only toss from tail losing pop or super chipped up. Now they last me like 3 months or more :/

Skate everyday…depends on brand and style. Girl twin tips last longest, 1 month…BBS popsicles (usually Polar, Sci Fi, Hockey) 2-3 weeks. Ps stix (quasi mostly) are the most variable. Can have stereotypical ps stix sogginess after 2 weeks, but sometimes they last longer.

About 6-8 months when they get square and chipped. I should probably replace my decks sooner but I'm cheap

I skate 1-2 days a week and don’t ollie. I’m basically cruising and doing no complys, practicing switch, etc. But even though my decks look great after two months (no chips or razor tail), they feel compromised cause I’m a big guy.

I will hold onto a deck as long as I can. I've skated cracked decks for weeks after as long as they don't feel too soggy. I usually will use it as a curb/low impact transition setup and on anything where I wanna pop I'll have a fresher deck.

I will say over the last year or so I've noticed my BBS decks chip way easier.

I skate 5ish hours a week and usually get about two months from a board, so about ~40 hours, usually swap it out from a combination of sogginess, razor tail, and chipping. I randomly snapped a pretty fresh one a few months ago but that was the first one in quite some time.

Usually get about 6 weeks out of a PS Stix board.

I'm on a Snack right now that is hella old and flexible but the razor isn't too bad. Have more new ones but I don't want to give this one up yet.

Totally depends what and where I am skating. When my tail starts to get sharp, I ditch it. Some people go much longer than I do, some less, so another relevant question here is what constitutes a "dead" board? If I am skating a lot of transition, tail not wear out as fast. If am doing trying lots of manuals in at a crusty spot, shit ain't going to be long for this world.

4 months on BBS Mexico wood (Real). Skate once-twice a week. For total of 3-5 hours. (*skate park mostly: ledges and flat bars… transition… skate around “street” pushing around and popping Ollies/nollies/fakies, 180’s, manuals,  and 43’s mostly sometimes around work.)

The deck is still skateable it’s just that the pop starts feeling weird, and I’m old and useless so any little thing to help me not break my ass (like a new deck) is necessary.

Another brand new account coming in on some absolute fuck shit

I was feeling rich and old and lazy for a while, but things have changed. Skating til tail is razor thin or it starts snapping.

I try to skate for 20 hours a week if everything goes my way.  I usually skate a pretty rough diy spot and I'm getting a little over two weeks

This winter I made learning longer manuals my goal.  I set up an old board just for that.  It’s starting to look like Ian Mackaye’s sheep board…I’m getting there.

Since they're getting so damn expensive, I try and run a deck for at least 2 months. Barring any chips or cracks.

I skate mostly transition, so my decks usually last 4-6 months before they start to chip then I replace them. I’ve been skating more street this past year, so now I replace them when they start to lose their pop, which is more like every 3-4 months

I usually have a few set up at once so that spreads their lives out. I used to skate decks until they were in two pieces but I try to hand them off to kids while they still have some decent life left in them these days. I haven't actually snapped a deck in a  long time. Usually, when the tail gets a bit too razored or they start to feel a little mushed out its time to go. Some decks go sooner if the shape just isn't working out. Probably go through about 4-6 a year. I was also setting up new wheels each new deck but I've since chilled on that. That was pretty wasteful even though they were passed on to kids also.

2-6 weeks, 4-6 if it's bbs/dsm, 2-4 if it's something else, 0-2 if it's hlc/ps/clutch wood. i don't really break boards that often but i crack them a lot and then stop skating them because they feel dull and soft. i weigh 85 kg which is i don't know how much in the usa because why would i weigh myself in stones or whatever

1-2 months

Real good question but super subjective, which is awesome! When I was a broke kid, they lasted till they broke, when i was single they lasted until I stopped at shop, when I worked at shop they lasted a day, now they last a whole season since I'm married.

If you don't want to ride it, replace it. there is nothing better to be stoked about! I like how users had hours configured. I skated whatever I could. The spot picks the weak part. I used to skate ledges when my tail cracked to get an extra day even.

BEST ADVICE EVER: SKATE HARD, BUY THE BIGGEST CHEAPEST BOARD YOU CAN FOR A SPARE, KEEP IT AROUND, IT'LL LAST A WHILE AND YOU CAN SKATE NO MATTER WHAT.
