On average? Probably about a month.

It's been as short as two weeks if I'm skating a lot of street and as long as 3 months though (winter)

Basically just started skating a year and a half ago, so I still have all my three boards.

Creature 8.6” VX Russell - September 22
Anti Hero Orange Eagle 9” - January 23
Polar Herrington 8.5” - September 23

So basically my boards have birthdays, because I can’t break them.
Im too dumb to figure out how to make this drawing my profile pic.

6 months to a year.
[close]

This was me at 12 years old lol. There is beauty in having a birthday in June. I got a board in June and then in December.
[close]

Both of these quotes resonate. 6 months to a year/ June birthday.

It all depends but for me 6 months is the least I get from my boards nowadays. I skate 1-3x a week at most and mostly transition or just cruise around, some tricks here and there. Very few sessions at actual spots.  I havent broken a board in years. Whenever my grip is done and board still feels pretty good, I replace the grip. I skated my Chocolate Couch shape a year straight, in winter at indoor park and then the next summer. I still have it as cruiser whenever I feel like skating it.

.

My mini ramp boards last years - that is just skating my own mini ramp only on those boards.

My usual skatepark boards, a few months depending on the surfaces, eg rougher park surface, tail wears down faster, smoother park surface, tail lasts longer.

Trying to still skate street or skate like I used to, boards can last not too long, especially if I am lazy or land wrong.  Boards don't break, but I have sogged out tails / noses very easily on some boards, to the point it is just better to take them off and set up a new deck.

Some boards I really enjoy and I just don't want to take them off, whereas others I can't wait to get rid of, especially if they feel too steep across the board or something happens on it that makes me just think it is better to pass it on to someone else ASAP.

I tend to go through phases of setting up a few boards at a time, then don't set up any for a while, then set up a few more, so it is never a set time that they last and I have too many on the go all at once too, which sometimes can be a bit weird, but other times, it is good as I have boards with different size / shape / duro wheels for different things too.

Nothing is ever seeming so simple or easy for me, but I like it that way.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I used to skate my boards a lot longer. I would skate a board for at least 2 months depending on how often I was skating street at the time.

Now I setup a board every month and only skate 2 times a week. I honestly think I setup boards more often now because I'm skating less so I look for that endorphin rush the best way I know how. I'm going to start skating more or at the very least skating my boards longer.

I try to make them last a month, but realistically 3 weeks would be the perfect lifespan for me.  I only skate a couple times a week these days

i'd be interested in seeing what a deck looks like when you retire it, because it seems like that will vary a lot for people here. anyone want to share pics?

How long do you skate a board that you just don't like? I just set up a fresh one that has nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't agree with me. Timing's off and pop feels heavy.

I'm two awkward sessions in, thinking about putting my trucks back on my old razor tailed deck.

This is after a month. Not a lot of tricks. Deck still looks good, just has tons of pressure cracks. Most of my used ones look like this.

I might revisit it. Part of me thinks I’m just spoiled and got used to the feel of brand new decks, and now I hate them once they’re broken in 🫠

Usually 6-8 weeks, at week 3 the board reaches the right amount of shitty-ness. I'll stretch it from week 6-8 because I hate the thought of readjusting to a fresh snappy setup.

It depends. Sometimes a board can last me 6 plus months. Sometimes 15 minutes on flat. I have never focused a board. It’s all luck of the draw. Boards last way longer now that I have a kid lol.

How long should a deck last me? 2.5-3 months.

How long do I make my decks last me because I buy too much stuff? Like a month or so.  I’ll always leave the used ones at a skatespot unless it was a particularly meaningful deck to me for whatever reason.

Here’s my current board on hour 74. I’ll probably get a few more sessions out of it before replacing. Only real problem is the missing plies on the nose making me readjust my kickflips.

Oh no! This “triggers” my PTSD from scraping the insides of my knees with chipped razor-tail. Fucking cheese graters up the inside of the leg.

ot: between two and six months, i'd say. but i mostly skate a smooth concrete park that is easy on all parts of the skateboard,

It's actually not as bad as it looks in the photos! I replace them when it gets to a proper razor-tail becaue it messes up my tailslides, which as you can see is pretty much the only slide I do.

Five or six sessions..

Do you just skate like stairs or something how tf is that manageable. Ive been skating for 2 months on my current board about 3-4 times a week and only now just got a new deck because I chipped the tail.

2 weeks. I think I missed 4-5 of skating in those two weeks.
