I know that you are mostly haters of Rancid, this is not a Rancid album though. A poets Life is a nice change from most of the bullshit that's to be heard lately. It's a reggae/ska record with some suprising cuts throughout. Lyrical content is solid, i guess with the heart of old Rancid songs (circa first s/t album, lets go) thankfully minus the recycled sound and linguistic intent of the last few rancid related projects (transplants, Lars and the Bastards, Rancid cds...). Don't cut it up with out listening up. Check it out on myspace if you would like. This is the first "new" guitar based record release that i've bought in at least 4 years, give it a listen.
