Nice shirt in the thumbnail

This one looked like it was almost double sided a la Derby, Berkeley's is kinda bulbous but flush with the deck.

Always wondered where that diy was - surprised they shouted out Castro Valley.

Anyway, Austin rules at these.

Spot looks fun. Is it still DIY though when you roll in a huge concrete truck?

This is probably an indictment of my transition skills, but I absolutely love noping and can do much more stuff on it than on coping. This spot looks damn near perfect.

How else are you gonna get that much concrete in? The DIY's here do the same, the lads just raise up the funds. Spot looks sick, never skated noping before, wanna try it.

Well yeah, if you'd pour that amount of concrete by hand/with a mixer, it would take like 400 bags and would take forever, the end result would be worse and be much more expensive (also you'd need generator for the mixer etc.). So doing shotcrete means you can do the pour in one go. Even in DIY's you can order a concrete truck instead of bags (but for doing shotcrete you'll need some extra equipment.)

And of course Austin & co is most likely paid to build that, so it's not that different from skateboarders building an official skatepark, but it's DIY as in teaches how to use the techniques so you can build your own shit. Best series.

There's a place for noping. As long as everything else is good, a hard edge can be really fun to skate and opens up some tricks. Back D variations are way easier for one....

Bro this a construction project lol. Not a diy pursuit by any means but they really taking liberties here. The concrete truck whatever.  That's a smart play.  Doing that in bags would be awful.  But that rebar work and finishing straight up trades work. Not that any of it matters but people really underestimating how much engineering went into this. This thing build more robust than the hoover damn. Code inspector approved. Some good ideas to borrow from no doubt but this is professional level construction being done here.

Hahaha my thoughts exactly. Want to learn how to make a DIY noping QP? It's easy kids just hire professional skate park contractors and simply mix one truckload of concrete. You'll figure it out. LOL

Thrasher's definition of "DIY" is insane.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that place isn't really a DIY that's on public land or open to just anyone. I think it's more of a privately owned skatepark that does skate lessons and stuff like that.

I always appreciate all the intricate details that they include in these videos, even though I really have no idea what he's talking about most of the time. It makes me feel like one day, I too can get ahold of a bunch of concrete and make one of these things lol

Granted, it’s large scale but the instructions on the floating platform were pretty great. None of that stuff is super difficult - you’ll learn tying rebar in two minutes on your first build.

It’s usually cheaper just pushing dirt around but this shows you an alternative.

I wasn’t quite following the piano wire thing. Was that just to show level between the forms? Seemed redundant along with the transition guide tool. Or maybe I was to show the top edge?
