busted in brooklyn
« on: May 27, 2007, 09:10:53 PM »
wtf paps?

Not long ago it was reported that Pappalardo had been incarcerated in Brooklyn in relation to "felonious" efforts to finish his video part. He was actually charged with five of them. Today we are happy to report that he has been exonerated on all charges and will not be saddled with community service duties in these last crucial months of filming. You see, the justice system really does work............. if you happen to have three grand for one of New York's best attorneys and just happen to make the right joke about a bottle of scotch during your effort to retain his services. So to recap costs: $3000 plus a bottle of $500 scotch for the attorney, $250 fine to the county, and night in Brooklyn Central, plus a decent amount of sanity throughout the whole ordeal. And no video clip to speak of! "Being a pro skateboarder, priceless."

anyone know the story and care to share?

Your job sucks? Remember this text I just got from Pappalardo next time you want to bitch.

"bird..think i just took one for the team..just spent 26 hours in a holding cell in downtown brooklyn with most times so many people couldn't physically move and other times lying on cold concrete with roaches and vomit using mini cereal boxes as pillows trying to sleep. that could definitely fuck the mentals.. accused of felony. Dropped to multiple misdemeanor.. lakai or die.. should of stuck to those ledge tricks."

they posted that a while ago, not really sure what happened tresspassing maybe?

That sucks but...

26 hours? On two different occasions I was held for the max in county, which is one month for each visit.
For nothing basicallly. A fight on one and being drunk in public while having skate warrants another time. I would have gotten out
in 2 weeks on the second one due to courts backed up  but after  beating the shit out of an idiot who tried to punk me and threaten
me for my nikes I got a month. The only thing fun about that was playing basketball one night a week in a hot ass box. For the fight
they tried to pin me on fellony assault and a destruction of property felony. It was bullshit cause that meant I must have destroyed $5000 worth of property which was a piece of shit bike, and the felony assault was a fight that the other guy started. Fucking bullshit! I would have gladly exchanged that amount pops paid to get out in 26 hours.

Still though, that sucks for pops and he's probably an angel compared to me at that age so it was probably a much worse experience for him than it was for me.

The best part of sitting in a holding cell, is looking down at the benches, and seeing etched in names of people you know.

I disagree. I think the best part is seeing someone you know. I saw someone I knew a little but was eager to see  even geez's drunk ass. The worst is not knowing how long you'll be in there. Even  the day when you know you're gonna leave it's just some long drawn out process. The true feeling of freedom came for me when I got the package of clothes  and was reminded what I was wearing when arrested. Those incidents taught me a lot. I'm very fortunate cause my record is clean as a whistle.

My friend had no running water, heat and barely enough money for food at one point. He was at work, and police came in to escort him to jail for not showing up to a a few court dates.

In jail, he got to play volleyball, eat three times a day, stay warm, and not get hassled for sucking at work. Boredom was his zen, in a sense.

Anyway, a few months later, he was out, and also welcomed back to his job. He hated life and later formed a sort of depression.

don't understand how he got months for a couple warrants. I had multiples and they were all handled together on one court date. His staying there
that long tells me they were all very different offenses(different court dates  and/or he got convicted for one of them while behind bars.

I'm not trying to play the tough guy role. I'm just saying what Pops went thru wasn't shit compared to what I went thru.
Emotional stress??? Please!!!! It's dissapointing to give up over $3000 but it's hell being locked up.

$3000 is excessive for that. Damn, a little community service would have been more appropriate.

I'm guessing the penalty would have been a little steeper if some cars had zoomed by after the stop sign was down, causing a catastrophic crash and killing a few people.
I think they call that manslaughter when it actually happens.
Damn stop signs. Can't live with them, can't cut them down and drag them across the street.

Good point. I know for a fact I would have ran it.
They probably take that kind of vandalism real seriously because of that.

Fucking dumb ass. On the real, that could have fucked someone up just so he could get a stupid trick on film.
I hope in his defense he at least tried re-prop it up or make it in view of drivers.
