I figure because we answered the question of wether or not Lakai riders will land anywhere (Austyn Gillette couldn’t land on a major brand for Christ’s sake) Let’s answer the opposite question, which pro’s will humble themselves or jump at the opportunity to get on Lakai with the new guy (not that Guy)?

Or is his talk of an all new team/media focused brand just hogwash, poppycock, a bill of goods?

Would make sense for a seemingly money-focused new CEO to get a team from the contest scene, to earn quick recognition and free advertising. Reminds me of what Cariuma did when they were starting out... contest skaters, contest skaters everywhere. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Cariuma riders found Lakai a more enticing option and made the switch, if the price is right...

Lakai is now a "Weekend at Bernie's" style skateboarding company - they may put on a facade, but its really been dead for a while, and starting to smell quite bad too.

I’m fairly certain Austyn could’ve landed on any major brand he wanted. The issue was that his demands were probably ridiculous to ask of a corporation as a 30 year old skater: Pro shoe, higher degree of creative control.

Just not a good comparison to make because pretty much all of the lakai dudes aren’t as marketable and seem like they’d take any deal with a grand attached.
