Just thinking about current skate media after the jenkem rog thread.

Free skate mag is just a glorified hella clips that only gets props off other people hard work in video edits. Calling or defending free as some sort of top tier skate media is pretty dumb. Maybe they have done a couple of interviews and printed some hard to find zines, bit the bulk of their notoriety comes from posting video parts. That’s good but they are not a legit magazine house. Just prolific rebloggers.

Honestly, agree. Love what they're doing for the Euro scene but yeah, the mags aren't a great read, the only reason they're still around is their Instagram account and YouTube channel. There's a reason the mags are free haha.

Switch is a novelty and not taken seriously in surfing and should be treated as such in skating as well.

It’s kind of remarkable how much less skating comes out via Thrasher’s YouTube than did even two or three years ago.

Bob is exempt and you know it.  Tiago also exempt pretty much everyone else stop it immediately or become the freestyler you really want to be deep down.  The rest of us are tired of seeing your stupid looking stance awkward slow pushes no switch in 2025.
While we are at it I am still advocating for no hands vert skating flip & grabs are dumb

After going to a sushi restaurant with my wife, bumping into a local crew of fairly well known skaters and hearing one of them say “Ching Ching Ching” to the waiter and the rest of the table drunkingly laughing in response, I never want to hear crap about how progressive skaters are ever again. I’m pretty sure these guys ate up BLM and all the other social movements too. Also this was in Vancouver, not exactly some hick town in the middle of nowhere

Switch is an important part of skating and deserves all the respect it gets.

Having said that, I've never been a person who watches a part and goes "bruh he didn't do a single switch trick"
Skate as much or little switch as you want and serves your purposes and style on a skateboard.

I think switch is something for pros/people with too much skill/time. I struggle enough with normal stance and keep my focus on it.

Haven’t seen people hike backwards yet just to impress others. But it’s true, some tricks look better switch and I respect people who Master this kinda unnecessary skill on our totally absurd hobby.

Switch is important for many reasons. But balancing out your hips and leg muscles can not be understated. Its just good for you.
