You know who the real winner from this episode is?

Jamie Thomas.
[close]

I wish I could kook you.

Seriously, everyone says hes such a skate nazi coach...this episode proves hes a pretty reasonable guy. WAY more reasonably than i think the majority of us would be. Not skating for months at a time? Ellington wasn't even kicked off, Jamie just wanted him to ya know...skate some...being a pro skater he was paying to live and all.

Ellingtons appreciation and admiration of Thomas was evident.

to me it wasn't what he said but how it said it. the sub text to me was "what are you guys doing here..." (like when a store clerk shadows you in a store and asks you "can I help you"). and then when Erik said he just brought it, the way the guy answered to me sounded like he was not really believing Erik 100% and I would guess it's because of how he looks.

maybe I heard it wrong, but that's how it sounded to me and if that is how it went down then the guy is a fucking douchebag.

Exactly. How people say things has just as much meaning as the words actually said. My views on Erik Ellington really changed after this. I didn't think he was a bad person or anything, but I did think of him as a hedonistic PD kind of guy. He handled himself in a very respectful way and he came off as truly genuine. Much respect. Plus his bigspins are sweet.

i met ellington and when i talked to him he was a super nice and down to earth guy.  i've always liked his skating, and he's doing like everyone else and maturing because he's got a kid now.  dude gets thumbs up in my book.

O'Dell actually has a talent for showing sides of these guys you don't get to see. I've always liked EE's skating but that respect was dwindling because he's portrayed as the same pile he was years ago. It's obviously not true. It's cool to see that. I respect family men because the thought of having a child frightens the hell out of me.

wait so i'm still not clear on this...did we like the episode or not? i really can't tell, after a careful reading, if you guys' idea of ellington has changed after the 15 minutes you spent watching the show or not. let's add another few pages to this one. the truth will eventually be revealed...

my idea of ellington has not changed, i've always liked him

and brayden, although i absolutely despised his heinous skating when he first popped up onto the scene, was actually pretty fun and rad dude when we drank at the bar, not to mention he's cleaned up his skating a good bit and is fucking killing it.

call it what you will, i was referring to the way that a negative opinion can be changed w/ a little dose of reality

this is in contrast to my steadfastly positive opinion about ellington

I wish Ellington talked about the time he tried to boardslide the chain between two rails. At the end of dying to live i think.

That wasn't Ellington, it was this dude from SD named John Rosencrans, everyone calls him Rosie.
