Shop Sponsor first? or what?

People tell me I could get a shop sponsor in my town cause theres a lot of weak people on the team. But I'm not too sure... should I try to get on? or just wait until I get better and try to get flow from a real skate company? Thanks.

the only advice i could give is that just have your fun skating, and if someone recognizes you, someone recognizes you.

if you are hyped on the shop and what they are all about, and if they give you a good hook up..........go for it.  if not, wait it out.

just get a shop sponsor, and still try to get flow for a real company becuase you can do both.
at least thats what i would do becuase they are giving you free decks and clothes and sick deals on stuff so why not, go for it.

Real skaters would do it with or without a sponsor.

If you are trying to get a shop sponsor, make sure you are friends with the guys there. I dont know about your shop, but for most shops, getting hooked up means being part of the family and being close with the guys on the team and the shops owners. If you are already close with them, and good, then show them some footage and see what they think.

well im not too sure if the shop is a family since i heard if you're good enough you take the spot of the weakest rider on the team.

No. Don't do it. I had a shop sponsor, and it made skateboarding more like a job than a hobby for me. Just wait to go flow, and then be the biggest asshole you can possibly be.

When you ride for a shop you have more clout, and everyone wants you to help them get on.  If your flow you can just say "send them a video" and then that company deals with it. Plus, anything you do gets back to the shop, so if you are a dick to a kid who is getting on your nerves, or even stomp a board, they don't really like it.
