i've been skating for like 16 years and i finally learned how to do f/s rocks. i've front boarded handrails, but couldn't f/s rock a mini ramp.

i don't remember who said it, but someone told me to look down at my back heel, and all of a sudden it just worked, and it feels so fucking goooood
can never do those right, gotta try that.

Allen.

Fakie smith, like, fakie ollie switch frontside willy grind.. again, pop out mid. Landed a few that went from either meh to okay.. but regardless. I'm stoked.
[close]

I've heard kids at the park call those "lazy grinds" but I find that disrespectful and I also hate everyone more than 10 years younger than me on principle so I'm not calling them that. Fakie smith sounds better.

It's definitely less emasculating than "lazy grind."

I can do them up Euro gaps, outta fly outs, over hips, on banks, but fuck me I haven't done a decent one on flat since '98. I think I'm gonna try next time out.

I'd love to have that problem. considering the age I'm learning them at, I'll probably have to settle for rarely landing a barely popped one on flat.

Front blunts on ledges even though I'm probably gonna lose interest in doing them because I'm tired of failed attempts where my heel catches the ledge and other ones where my board falls off the ledge and I go into front board and eat shit.

I used to be better at fs flips than bs flips and now its the opposite. I can hardly land 1 in 10 frontside flips and so often I smack my ankle on my board and am just instantly over it.

Front crooks on ledges, such a difficult trick. it's so hard for me to pinch it but it felt so cool- the few I landed.

i honestly think that i havent learned a new trick since like sophomore year, for some reason ledges and flatground tricks hate me (not sure if its height or just me sucking) so ive pretty much have been re trying to the same "tech" tricks i can barely land for a while now, anyone else has this plateau problem? its frustrating as hell, and the lack of spots/people doesnt help either

I've moved a lot the last couple years and definitely felt like I plateaud at a point due to lack of spots and being busy with work/school. It didn't help that I lived in a rural area the last year and a half; there weren't smooth streets for doing flip tricks(or even cruising around for that matter) and a skatepark that was in shambles. That being said, I moved back home recently and have been slowly progressing again, which I'm hyped on. Besides not having spots (which can be tough from a motivation standpoint) I feel like you can get to a point where you just try to keep your old shit and it gets frustrating when you're not as consistent as you feel like you should be. We all have bad days and mixing it up with shit I never try on said days can help. Takes your mind off of, "but I should be able to do this" and puts it at, "wow, can't believe I got close to that" (if that makes any sense). Also, if you're looking for something to skate, you can always try and build something.

I threw fakie front shoves and fakie heel flips out there the other day and they worked out, hyped on that.

sw 50-50 180 out. it kinda happened by accident. i'm all the time fs halfcabbing out and i focused on the back truck to avoid fakie revert and turned into sw tailslide then just sat on it til i was riding regular. felt really good and if i can get more comfortable leaning back i could see doing sw 5-0 to tailslides in my old age. that was one of my favorite tricks in the 90s [regular stance].

The secret is in your back foot, for me atleast foot positioning is similar to treflip. Back foot in pocket and scoop the shit out of that!

Landed my second front smith ever on a ledge yesterday, and landed a front tail front shuv out the other day.
I've never been one to skate ledges, but I'm learning to love them.

fs noselide (SLIDE) 270 out the easy way though. So its like a fs 360, with a noseslide in the middle. You gotta pop that bitch out though.

I didn't learn it, I fuckin landed it though... so its enough to get sponsored I think.
