In comparison to iPods and MP3 players, carying Discmen and CD cases are much of a hassle. People generally look uncomfortable trying to carry their collection around. It's pretty much pointless these days, since you can get an MP3 player for the price of a Discman these days.

Now, Shaq would be the poster child for the Discman. He could carry five in his palm, be posted on a billboard looking all swagger and non-challant, and I would buy one.

they pop in the disc and listen to the WHOLE CD. Not just one or two songs, but the WHOLE CD, and fucking love it.
[close]

Is it so odd? I am a blond white male living in nyc, I use a pair of Grado SR-80s and always listen to a CD(discman, I don't own an ipod) the whole way through, and no I'm not a stylefag/hipster.

...I always thought albums are supposed to be listened the whole way through.

They were for decades but mp3 format has changed the game a bit so that people and artist don't seem to care as much about a complete album anymore. There are exceptions but for the most part is seems like the technology is driving us away from good albums.

I know I listen to a lot of things these days that I would never have brought and wasted time messing with back when it was CDs\Tapes. 3 good songs wouldn't have been worth the money or effort of getting out the CD and putting it in.

I spend 5 bucks downloaded it and listened to it all day at work. Just like any radiohead album, it took a couple of listens and now I'm really liking it. Faust Arp and Jigsaw... are too highlights on the cd IMO.  There's my two cents :)

Or you could just go to their website and download it for free.

Yeah, no one wants to make a good whole album anymore. Just a random collection of songs. It's a bummer.

I didn't read anyone else's response, but I heard that they are releasing a normal album through regular retail channels in January.

here is the info:

This may sound creepy as fuck but I think that on the last song of the new album Thom Yorke sounds like the pervy old man neighbor on Family Guy.

the production/editing of the album is pretty terrible, and it's not the bitrate.

I recommend to you Amnesiac.  The Pyramid Song track is one of my favorites from radiohead, several other tracks on that album are excellent too.

This recording is the best thing I have heard in years. I listen to it all day, everyday... for prolly the last 2 weeks.
Who knows if they will do it again, but the whole point was to get people to ponder, 'hmmm, what is this worth to ME'. It's better than Kid A(mnesiac) combined. Plus I have the extra tracks, also divine. 'In Rainbows' is one of the few recordings that I can listen to all the way through. That's how special Radiohead are. Recognize.

The RIAA will soon be a distant memory. Thank god almighty.

Download it from the interwebs... www.inrainbows.com They will ask you what you would like to pay for it. It can be zero dollars, or 100. It's up to you. But don't make Thom Yorke  :'( by giving nada. That sucks.

Damn you. I have to be honest because it would be wrong to be a hypocrite presently. I confess. I suck. I make Thom Yorke  :'(
I got mine from an ever popular, now shut down torrent site.
So if you ask me "that's what Radiohead's music means to you? zero dollars?", I will say that it's fucking priceless. How could I put a price on something that is essential to me as breathing? This record may have saved my life.
Now, btw, Mr Yorke has stated himself that they made so much money from touring for OK Computer, but he didn't want to do it any more. For any amount. NO amount of $$$$$ is worth turning into a fucking nutbar, right?
I am going to buy the boxset in December though. $80 pinche dollars. I think we will be square then.
<------ The guy attached to these guns borrows from the interwebs as well, so I don't want to hear any shit. THAT motherfucker sets the standards in my little girl world. KthanxBye.

Has anyone else been listening too this non-stop? It's so nice to be stuck on an album for a while. I know it's the single but I can't get enough of

Here's some more preformances of the new stuff. Not sure what all this (tumbs down version) is about but I like it anyway.

fuck the Killers wack ass cover, this is the real shit
