Has anyone mentioned Leandre Sanders? He has to be a least 6' 2"
[close]

I think he‘s shorter than six foot. Skinny dudes always look taller on video. Heath Kirchard, Provost and Jaws were all fairly short, well bellow 6 foot, when I saw them in person. 6+ skaters I like are sheffey, Figgy and John Fitzgerald. For transition: Jimmy Wilkins and Sam Becket.

According to the skateboarder mag list above heath is over 6' and sheffey didn't get a mention. I don't think anyone thinks jaws is tall tho.

I have stood next to Heath. He is 5 foot ten on a good day. His aura was larger than life, though!

6' is the weirdest height to tell. (At least for me) I'll take your word for it.
Never saw heath but saw Ellington (who was mentioned just above) and I'm thinking no way that guy was like 5'9 look it up and he's 6'1 lol

It is super difficult to tell height on video. Most pro skaters are super short, though, so someone like Heath might pass for a taller person and be added to a list of taller skaters. I saw him when he was in town as the team manager of the Emerica team and apart from figgy, who is definitely a tall guy,  everyone was much shorter than expected. I mean I knew Spanky was a short guy, obviously, but Provost and Jon Dixon were pretty short as well.
no chance sam beckett is 6ft tall
skates what looks like a 6’ quarter pipe @1:20
head is never above coping when standing up on board

only point of reference i had to go off of but im getting 5’9 vibes
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I have stood next Beckett. I am 6 foot tall and he was quite a bit taller than me. I have also stood next to Heath and Provost and they are definitely below 6 foot. About 5 foot 10 I would say. They are both fairly lean and long, which makes them look taller.

Koston might be just about 6 foot tall. Anyone ever seen him in person?

At 6'2, i would never consider myself as "tall". I feel like anything taller than 6'2/6'3 and you're getting into weird tall territory
[close]

As a 6'2" man myself, I'm perfectly happy with my height. It's enough to be considered tall by most shorter people, but not so tall that it comes with major disadvantages in everyday life. It definitely has it's drawbacks on the board, but there's also one major perk: regular decks aren't long enough to credit card. I see that as an absolute win.

To me tall is like porn is to the Supreme Court: I know it when I see it. BA is my favorite tall skater. Arto is my all-time fave, but he's not tall. Just taller than most skaters, who in general tend to skew shorter.

I recently read an article about people getting leg lengthening surgery and there were all sorts of quotes like “everybody treats you different/life is so easy when you’re 6 foot tall!” I don’t get that.

I’m 6’1” but I don’t particularly feel like a “tall guy” when I’m out on the street - there’s a rather sizable chunk of the population that’s taller where I live. Except at the skatepark, where I think shorter is the norm.

I’ve seen quite a few pros in person and only a handful have been taller than 6’. Off the top of my head I’d list: Reese Forbes, Kenny Hughes, Tony Hawk, Reynolds, Ellington, Steve Nesser, Darren Navarette, Josh Borden, and then I’m drawing a blank.

Koston is probably under but not by much. Same with Omar Hassan.

He was at Skateweek in Frankfurt last summer with the flip team. The guy rips and is indeed very tall. I would guess he‘s 6 foot 7. By the way Luan, Penny and  Cory Juneau: all well below 6 foot.

The four that spring to mind are BA, Reese Forbes, Rob Welsh and Andrew Brophy. I wouldn't say guys like Arto and Reynolds are really, strikingly tall, but I'm from the land of giants so my standard may be skewed.

I'm 6'5" myself, and I used to obsess over my height when I started skating, because length and style just didn't go together in my mind. Before I reached the stage of acceptance I tried very hard to mimick Janoski's lanky, lazy style, in an attempt to camouflage it all. This included his signature 'hunched back' posture, during roll-up and roll-away, but after the inevitable bout of excruciating back pain I simply had to admit defeat.

With regard to the pros and cons of being tall, I've always found it's pretty balanced out. Yes, women quite often have a thing for taller men, and it's great to have full vision when you're in a crowd, but you're never entirely comfortable when sitting down (whether it's a car, sofa, office chair), and air travel is just absolute torture.
