I've heard people bitching but the main complaint has been "they expect me to pay now" from people who used to skate for free. Personally I think Big O has done a great job. The new course is fun, it would have been easy for him to keep his expenses low and not rebuild but he spent the money and did it because it had been a few years since they changed it up. He also renovated the shop which looks really sick now and needed renovation but could have easily saved money there too.
Plus, I always liked Tommy (old owner) but I just like the idea of having a guy who can out skate me on a mini running things; it's an impressive thing to see a guy Big Os size do a front five O grind to fakie in a 6 foot ramp.
And if you know anything about Instrumental, Big O started and owned Instrumental which was a really sick skate company out of Houston.
Darrell Staton rocks old instrumental boards on his wall and gives them a shout out in this clip. Anyway, now southside is being run by the same guy who started and did a great job on instrumental with the same artist doing the art work (with the exception of this crappy flyer).
I think the potential is really good for things stepping up at Southside but I guess only time will tell. But I'm presonally stoked on the change.
