Skating in NYC
« on: May 02, 2006, 11:56:17 AM »
im gonna be living in Brooklyn this summer..........and im not looking for directions to any of the big spots or anything like that........im just looking for a general impression of what skateboarding is like in NYC?  im really just planning on skating around the city from spot to spot or whatever, but im just wondering if there's anything that i should really look out for, like spot possesive locals, or areas where you'll get hassled by the cops or whatever.

just looking for general advice on just shreddin in NYC.
hardly art, hardly starving

yea the skate scene as a whole is pretty weak in nyc right now, all the art fags carry their boards around becuase its cool, old business men ride around on longboards, and kooks are still trying to learn that elusive ollie trick in the back of union square

i moved here this past year, basically said fuck it and skate by myself 75% of the time

What about that guy who invented all of those fliptricks, Rodney something? I forget. Then there's that guy who kinda looks like a turtle and has an amazing kickflip, I would mention the guy who did the first no-handed air, but I'm afraid I might be sued.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out

Florida's state park system is really nice.  Plus the campus Frank Lloyd Wright designed and Mizener's use of indoor/outdoor space in Palm Beach really makes for a good trip.

skating in new york is great. It's a bunch of people having fun and enjoying skateboarding, which is a lot more than can be said about some other places.
