that second vid gives me chills. apparently the dude who filmed the 1st vid said in the background u can see top pros mocking his stee, which is human nature to want to destroy the unknown.. if only they knew the impact dude had 20 yrs later...
Not the dude that filmed it, but was present for that comp and the previous one where Penny was openly mocked by the Americans present.
Year later and after he finishes his winning run the first person to give him props (it's in the video) was Sanch, one of the guys laughing at him at the same contest 12 months earlier.
I guess real rocognised real.
Also at the point, pro skateboarding was universally American - nowhere else mattered.
Then Penny et al came a proved otherwise.
This is why older Brits will always defend him to this day.
